i'm getting a new laptop for my sister but dont know which one is good now.
i chose gateway..with amd64 turion. is that a good processor. i bought it at bestbuy and they told me gateway is closing in 7 months and he told me to get a service plan for 200 bucks which covers 3 years. he said its good bcuz i can change the battery once a year for free because a battery cost 150-250. can anyone tell me if i made a good deal or not??? its 649 for the laptop

Stay clear from AMD processors for Laptops; a lot of people complain about overheating. Pentium M chips get hot but are rated to last for much higher heat scores.

Also Gateway is cheap in price and quality. If you are patient, wait for deals to pop up for Dell laptops at (there's a Dual core Inspiron Dell Laptop with 15.4 inch widescreen, DDR2 memory and a 80 gb SATA Hard drive for $650 as we speak: Definitely the best place to cop a cheap laptop.
