No they dont, its just that people assume all the retro AMs are good. Theres plenty of other great running shoes by nike. These guys arent running triathlons or anything like that.
Id rather drop some dough on some Air Milers, 360s, or even some good ole Air Pegasus' than have to buy some asics. Those will all hold up great, let your feet breathe, and is fine for going like 40 mile runs every week.
