Ayooo. This is for the DJing community on HB to converse, congregate, talk about DJing in general, records, scratching, gigs, equipment, questions to fellow DJ's, etc. First of all, lemme start off by introducing myself:

I started in December '04, when I was about 10.
DJing Name: DJ SPIN-ach(Yeah, old name I made for myself when I started around 2 years ago. Pretty whack name, I know, thinking of a new one.)
SET-UP:
Tables: 2 Gemini Beginner Tables (working on getting a pair of 1200's)
Mixer: Stanton SA-3

Duuude, I want Serato badly. I think it might be because paying $5-14 for a record is too much. Plus, I have a grip of songs that I want on vinyl. Just a question; Is Serato worth the price?

Do you guys put plastic under your slipmats? I heard it works well in terms of smooth scratches and rotations.

started in 01 when i was 14. never had any djing friends so i learned everything by myself which takes damn long but is worth it in the end...

set-up:
2x technics 1210
rane ttm 56
m-audio torq (i don't like serato's software)
kaoss pad II (but i don't use it that much)

oh, and also 3000+ records cool

and for the slipmat question: get butter-rugs! takes you some minutes to get used to while beatmatching but they work great!

and subrosafx never buy stanton stuff! had their "best" mixer (the dj craze signature one) and i broke like 5 faders in half. never again, quality is just not good...

check out my page smile

peace!

Not my mix, but it's definitely one of the best I've ever heard. Check it out.

BTW, if you haven't figured this out by now, mix is by DJ Emphatic.

Support him, y'all!

Started in 2000 wanting to be a turntablist/battle DJ, got into Drum & Bass for a while, then started spinning funk, hip-hop, and soul at b-boy jams. Now I do a bit of everything...house, bmore, baile funk, electro, etc.

Set-Up:
techs
Stanton SMX-501
Shure M447s
Serato

Here's a baltimore club mix I did last summer:
Alpha Gone Bmore

And a funk mix I did to promote a funk night I threw with another DJ in Atlanta:

RTST, you have a dope DJ name. How did you come up with it? I need some influence right now for a tight DJ name, since I'm starting to get into DJing again. Btw, if anyone from SD wants to have a straight chillin' sesh, we could meet up @ CSL or something. That would be tight.

^haha thanks. I originally started as DJ Rice. But then I just wanted something more unique, so I thought of Rice The STDj (rice the sound transmitting dj). The whole play on STDs and Dj'ing was really funny to me (Transmitting herpes..er sound to everybody). But I shortened it to Rice The Sound Transmitter or just RTST.

Ha yeah, RTST sounds way sicker. I see you had some influence from Dan the Automater, right? If not, ha, my bad. Anyway, yeah, I think I should just stay away from the "DJ ___" names. I'll try to make a long name like yours. Thanks.
