I dont see anything wrong with that.

People like what they like. You dont need to have beethoven in your top 5 or even to expand your taste. I can totally understand UGK being up there. It was highly influential down here. They still play it. What people need to do is stop being so high and mighty and judgemental.

Top 5 huh?

Pink Floyd - Animals / Dark side of the Moon
The Doors - The Doors
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds / Pornography
Radiohead - OK Computer / Kid A
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights

And there are so many I left out. Run-DMC's first album was brilliant. Decemberists's Crane Wife, Arcade Fire, Mogwai, Sigur Ros,.... The list goes on and on and on.

I understand that. But I don't put more status on a group just because they are from my area. One's whole perspective is wack because it's biased. There's hella artist who I like more that are outside of the Bay Area because their material sounds good, not because they were influencing in the first place. Hyphy music like Keak Da Sneak and E-40 are influential on hustlin & getting paper in the Bay but I don't even dig into that.

Yeah and people like what they like, but to be ignorant on a top 5 list of all time is annoying as hell. Maybe I shouldn't really give a shit then.

Again, I think you're missing the point and again being judgemental. Sure, theres ignorant themes on UGKs album but couldnt the same be said aboutReday To Die or anything NWA ever put out. The album is influential because people liked it...so its not just blind alliegence to a certain area its actually enjoying the music. And, obviously theres people who are not from the south who enjoy the album...theres someone on this very page who says so. The reason Im always reluctant to make some of these lists is because of the very kind of comments as that. Its a bias opinion because favorites are ALWAYS based on biases. It is what it is.

You should all know that musical tastes, like many things, are subjective. So it's normal that you won't like other people's choices all the time. The very least you can do is give people the courtesy to explain themselves and move on.
