ODB was a song that was supposed to be on Old but they couldn't clear the samples.

The track "Way Up Here" was disappointing. Sorta upset ODB wasn't on the album.

Beautiful album, truly sick on everything (excluding Way Up Here where i was really disappointed, especially with ab-soul..) but at the same time this album lacks the enigma, and the feel that XXX gave me the first time i listened to it. XXX was like a "shit will never be the same" moment. not to take away from the impact of this amazing album. songs like The Return, and Wonderbread, 25 Bucks and Float On were my favs, but honestly i love the whole thing.

Danny Brown is a fan of grime music so I'll recommend that. The later part of the album gets abit dubsteppy instead of old school grime but yeah

Listen to Dizzee Rascal's 'Boy in Da Corner', old school Kano, Wiley, Skepta, Doogz, Crazy Titch. They'll introduce you into what grime is.

Here's some links:

Boy in da Corner seems to be Danny's favourite and his first grime album

It's mainly the beats that are different. Grime was influenced by garage and jungle (Among other genres) so its nothing like US rap. Alot of beats are 140bpm, or have that type of bass in the 'Morgue' song or 'Stop Dat'.

Grime MCs also use a completely different flow - Don't forget though there are US influences, alot of grime MCs wouldve grown up listening to alot of US rap as well. Its just we made our own thing completely instead of trying to 'rip off' the US (There is UK rap more akin to US rap though - Artists like Jehst, Klashnekoff).

Its a reason why I like Danny Brown tbh, no offense but alot of Americans seemed to dismiss grime without listening (Danny said his friends were the same when he showed them grime) but I respect him for giving it a proper listen and finding stuff he liked.

Anyways I doubt you guys will listen to the links I posted but yeah, thats a tiny tiny bit of info on grime and UK rap.

Again you're from Bristol, you don't know anything about grime, grime wasn't big in Bristol. I don't expect you to get it or to understand why it was so popular.

not really tbh

im not from America yet i fuck with Rap and i get the scene

Grime isnt big because it sucks and its a rip off of American rap and infact the majority of England dont fuck with grime nore get the scene. The reason why is because theres to many limitations and the grime artists are generally shit artists that end up making the most corniest music you will ever listen to.
