I was also hoping that even with the 10 tracks, they would be on some 20/20 Experience length shit, and still be like a 60 minute album.

But instead its just 40 minutes of music, only about 30 mins of which is stuff I like
That's cause it's a "LP". LPs are usually 10 songs 40 minutes. YEEZUS is exactly 40 minutes too lol.

can't believe the guitar solo at the end of "Hold My Liquor" samples or at least takes inspiration from "Through the Fire and Flames"
it's a sample from a band called Ratatat
not sure which song but they have a very distinctive sound
word i was thinking that too, sounds kinda like pursuit of happiness by cudi + ratatat guitar solo

Man Guilt Trip rides, even though he reused the Blocka sample.

I just finished listening for the first time. I like it so far. Last 5 songs are definitely better than the first 5.

But, how many of yall are gonna buy a copy, even though youve got the leak? I usually do, i think ill pass on this one. It doesn't even seem to come with a lyric/photo insert.

I agree with people saying it doesn't have much replay value. The first time I heard it I thought "Damn, this is some next level shit" but after 4 play throughs I'm like "Well, that was interesting." I'm gonna listen to it once today and see how I feel about it.

the first 3 songs were produced by Daft Punk so that makes sense

It was a decent listen I guess. I won't be listening too much more, none of the songs really set strong with me. Best songs were Blood On The Leaves and Bound 2.

I just feel like the 2 1/2 year gap between MBDTF and Yeezus should have produced a better album than this.

he wasn't going for that...MBDTF was maximalist hip hop...this is sparse and minimal, and harsh...no sense in comparing...

I dont really like it that much. I can appreciate it for what it is, but eh, it doesn't really interest me too much. Send it up is pretty hard tho and I like bound 2. To me, MBDTF is much more enjoyable.

it's hard to judge cos i'm like this w every kanye solo album but i think it's his best. i think it has the "best of kanye" feel that mbdtf had without trying as hard and being as passive-aggressive as that album. maybe it's just cos i read the nyt interview but this has the un self-conscious feel of 808s only happier

that was always kinda my reasoning for preferring graduation to mbdtf. mbdtf kanye is like defensively making great music. this is open, and you can hear it in every song.

and for all that growth, i feel like this should be his last album. graduation was the one to beat, and this is it, and idk what other face/album of kanye we can see that isn't saying the same thing as the other. ending on bound 2 in particular feels like a swan song.

i feel like y'all analyze and judge shit way too hard . focusing on just this album and not comparing it to his other work , i like it . artists don't stay stagnant , they progress and try new shit .

This is a matured album.

I love this because it shows the growth of Kanye and also his change of style over the years.

Almost every rap artist can recreate his first couple of albums

Nobody can touch the technicality and style of this album though.

This is the new generation of style

Be about it

I'd really love to know how much Young Chop contributed to Hold My Liquor. Doesn't really sound like anything by him at all.

exactly how I felt. The final "uh huh honey" and song in general was a perfect ending. shit was so classic kanye and resolving. great vibe to end such a dark album.
