What are you guy's thoughts on the upcoming album from Mr. West himself?

It comes out Tuesday, June 18th which is less than a week from today. I'm a little confused as to why I don't see any visual of it on iTunes. No music video, no released single. Usually artist do that kind of thing like at least a month before the drop. Here we are a week before the drop and nothing...

Why do you think? You think he is taking the old Micro$oft approach with the same idea that "People are going to buy my shit regardless" attitude?

I like the idea of that, but sometimes the hype behind the marketing is some of the most exciting parts of the overall experience. I guess we will see more of that AFTER it drops. Which I guess can be just as cool. I'm just spoiled. Lol

kanye is hands down the biggest rap artist on the planet. nothing was really said about his project until a month ago and people watched SNL just because he was performing new material. Any other current artist that would receive such attention on SNL for the same reason? nah. also no cdq singles to give people a quality taste of what he's about to drop. from someone on his platform it's almost genius not to give people at taste even though they know it's dropping. I think he's also taking notes from what happened with cruel summer - dropping the hottest tracks as singles and having the rest of the album be slow.

that being said...

he's yeezus. he doesn't need a marketing campaign.

I KNEW IT! My first guess was that there were no singles because it was a short album. I felt like it made sense, and it does.

Wait...

Featuring GOD???!?!? o_O!!! suprised WTF?

Kanye on the album title: "West was my slave name, Yeezus is my god name"
...Lol, give me a fucking break

OnSite is super weak. Daft Punk gave kanye a real throwaway on that one.

The past few years, I've lost that christmas spirit excitement leading up to Christmas day

This album has brought back that same excitement.

And idk if Kanye even said it himself or it was someones interpretation but the reason to no singles is that he wants it to be heard in one entire body of work.  And he really wants people to only focus on the music, hence no cover

oh well, i'll still probably give this a listen when it drops.

Yes, you're posting on hb so you are the only one.

Also, looking back, cruel summer was a bad release. Everyone was so hyped up for it but it ended up being a mediocre album. Kanye is smart enough to drop the right singles to promote sales. With yeezus he needs no marketing because his private life is already through the roof in popularity.

As much as I want to hear the album, I really don't care. This reminds me of the old days when I had dial up internet so downloading leaks were out of the question for me.

The Eminem Show
GRODT
Encore
The Hunger for More
The Documentary
The Massacre

albums I went and purchased on release day cool

Yeezus is bringing that nostalgia back.

Rhymefest is all over this album. Is he like rapping or ghost writing? I forgot that nigga existed. Last time I saw him, he was working with Kanye and Kim on this dumb ass puppet show. I thought Kanye kicked him to the curb after that failed...
