We just had the trill wave when ASAP took over the game. The dark clothing emo fad and gold fronts shit. Using the southern flow and incorporating the Bone Thugs flow.

Flatbush Zombies and Underachievers kinda branched off of them with their styles but they're doing their own thing. We got Trinidad Jame$ on the come up with his Southern style too and gold jewelry, I think his sound will keep hip hop going in the direction of the south side.

I think TDE is a breath of fresh air, Kendricks style is so much his own and his flow is so intricate. He also touches on deep subject matters rather than stupid shit like every other rapper. These days rappers blow up because of their flow and image rather than what they actually talk about. You got rappers like riff raff and lil b blowing up trolling this aspect of hip hop.

What kinda style or direction you think hip hop as a whole is heading in next, and what type of rapper is the game missing? And I mean shit thats hype, not like Big Sean and all them commercial dudes. Personally I think we need another Eminem thats on some crazy lyrical fucked up shit, but not a corny motherfucker like Hopsin, but a real ass dude.

Im sure whatever direction it goes, I won't like it. I feel like every rapper coming out now and days has to have a gimmick that says "hey look at me, im different". for example that Trinidad nigga. I'm not going to even attempt to listen to his music because of how hard he's trying to get your attention based on how he looks.

its cyclical. we're back in the 90's with all this emo soft shit. people will get sick of it. this is what's gonna happen.

1. mitt romney will be voted president.
2. black people feel oppressed again.
3. 'gangsta rap' will have a revival and more "artists" will come out with real gang affiliations.
4. two of these rappers will have beef and settle it on the streets.
5. someone with a high profile will be murdered by gang members
6. we go back to soft shit.

isn't it weird that when george bush was president, the most popular rappers (g-unit, dipset, etc.) were all about selling drugs, robbing people, etc (hood problems).... then when barack obama became president, the most popular rappers (drake, kanye, etc.) are all about their feelings and ex-girlfriends (white people problems). if mitt romney wins, we're gonna go back to the oppressed black man.

When Bush was president the blacks actually had to work but now since Obama is in charge they live off the government and the hard working tax payers.

Vote Romney, bring back real hip hop.

SBeezy is like the last real hip hop rapper standing.

^ dstyles gets it. ever since obama became president, black people aren't considered as scary anymore (in general). before obama, how many white kids would u really see at an ASAP/OF-esque rap concert going as wild as they do now? back in the day, white people used to feel hesitant about blasting rap music and acting "black" in fear of offending/receiving backlash. not so much anymore.

you know how i know you're black? because you don't see it. you obviously haven't been going to the secret white people meetings.

without obama, jay-z being the "king" wouldn't have happened. those illuminati rumors/theories wouldn't exist. now he's generally referred to as a "musician" and "businessman". before, he would have been referred to as a "gangster rapper". same with kanye. kanye is famous for being an eccentric artist and wild personality. he's "just kanye" and not "crazy black guy". remember when ludacris lost endorsements because his music was considered "too gangster"? now we have lil wayne (who went to jail not too long ago for weapons possession) doing mountain dew commercials.

i never said white people didn't like it... white people love gangster shit. they just hid it. because they were afraid black people would call them out on it and jump them. not anymore.

and i never said the oppressed black man was in control. white people have always been pulling he strings. they are just going to change the puppet from a prince into a pauper.

Honestly I believe hip hop will ultimately end up decided on how you dress and who you can relate to. And which era or person did you like from back in the day. Hip hop is repetitive add ______'s flow to new sounding beat you have a hit. But like myself most people are conscious of what their fav rappers where and do and this decides shelf life.

ok yall remember when the 80s was like the golden age of rock, and all those dudes were dressing, and acting gay as hell? well the 80s rock is almost a direct correlation to 2005-present hip hop, a lot of watered down flashy shit. But its ok because the 90s brought upon legendary bands such as nirvana, sublime, and U2. People in hip hop will realize how stupid they look and they will realize that their music has no substance. Hip hop will have a renaissance i guarantee it

80s rock

90s

present hip hop

just my opinion

a bunch of cats doing a lot of different styles. this one of the best years in a long time for throwback shit and new school weirdo shit. people are gonna keep doing different styles and some will stick and some will not. its gonna continue to shift away from the mainstream, but not be exactly underground in the way it was from 98-2000 whatever.

I think hip-hop is following the same path as rock and roll did it's just that it's happening in a different time. When rock and roll started out, it was black music, through and through. Record labels saw an opportunity to make a profit off of it but they needed to make it more palatable for white audiences because white people were the ones who had money to spend on music. They made a few changes, found some white artists and, over the course of a few decades, the market was saturated with white musicians.

I see white artists making money in hip hop now more than ever. I don't think that it's the record labels who are leading to the rise of the white artist, honestly I think it's the fans. Hip hop has been supported economically by white fans ever since the gangster rap movement in the early 90's. As time has gone on, there has been a gradually increasing demand for white artists as white fans look for musicians who have had shared experiences and stories.

TLDR
I think there will be more and more white artists telling white stories. The age of the black rapper is slowly fading.

QFT. That said, I think Mac Miller and Yelawolf are tight dudes, everyone in the industry thinks they're trill, even though Mac's rapping isn't my cup of coffee. Never heard the other upcoming white rappers, but the end is nigh for black control of the industry. The music goes toward the dollars, and as the record execs use up the often faked thug image, you're just left with a bunch of pretty boy black rappers (Big Sean, Drake, Kid Cudi) that can easily be replaced with a white counterpart if said counterpart isn't corny like many white rappers come off. It's gonna be a slow change though. White guilt has caused liberals to basically hand a good portion of pop music over to the niggas.

I'm just praying black America gathers enough wealth to improve BET and have a culture that stands on its own two feet, all before our control of hip hop fades away. We're just thriving off of white dollars, and without 'em, Ksnye would still be jacking off under his mom's roof and Wayne would be slanging rocks with a gat always on safety (so he doesn't shoot himself again).

As for the women, Iggy Azalea is about to kill shit with T.I. as her manager. Kreayshawn fucked up her chance, but Iggy has skills and an unstoppable fan base: white every suburban teenage girl in America.
