tape was whatever for me. It definitely had some shining moments (Hardknock in particular), but he just isn't really using that to do something creative. Even though it's evident that Joey is a pretty good technical rapper, he rarely deviates from basic rap cliches, which is extremely troubling, because his sound relies almost entirely on a time where if you didn't have something insightful to say, or at least able to present it through a personal/interesting/original perspective, you weren't really much.
IMO, joey just needs time to develop, but that's gonna prove to be hella difficult seeing as how everyone is anxious to go out and discover that next big thing in music.

you guys sure are some critics son . i feel like people don't know how to appreciate or complement music anymore . of course this nigga needs to grow , he's 17 and this is his first joint he put together . take it for what it is , but that's just me . i enjoy that fact that this is new but i feel like i'm listening to 90's hip-hop again . then again , everyone has their own opinions i guess .

So woke up to MTV2 Sucker Free Countdown and this dude was on there with the number 9 video. IMO I hate these cheap imitation 90s rappers. Though I will say he can rap, I am just tired of the cliche.
He is by no means the best or as good as hype suggests, but is any artists that generates buzz?

All I do is smoke weed, blow lines, and listen to MF DOOM. And rap. http://www.facebook.com/SpacemanNYC
pssshhhh, look I like the kid musically but he doesn't have a quarter of the originality that OF had coming out of the gate. Theres mad cliche elements through the whole project and while its enjoyable the fact of the matter is OF became as important as it did mainly due to the fact that their whole movement really was insular, NOBODY does that style like those dudes and we've seen MANY people try.
Delivery, production sound, lyricism, flow, overall vibe, at its best Odd Future really did completely set a new precedent for all of that shit and while I definitely appreciate 1999 its far from a game changer

1) i dont participate in online arguments, its a discussion, I was making a point
2) the other dude brought up the OF comparison, not me
3) kill yourself faggot

Ha.
having bars, actual flow, and at least a somewhat original style completely =/= being a 90s rapper. you're getting actual hip hop confused with "90s rap", along with everyone who's said that in this thread so far. genuine self expression/culture will never be a cliche by the way.
because we were comparing the levels of Hype between them? Really, this is that hard to follow?
