Rapper Curren$y's music is NOT to be trifled with -- and to prove it ... the MC is suing famed music producer Damon Dash, claiming he is hocking several Curren$y albums without permission.

Curren$y filed the lawsuit against Jay-Z's old biz partner and former co-owner of Roc-A-Fella Records -- claiming he and Dash tried to negotiate an agreement to release music together in 2010 ... but the deal never materialized.

Curren$y claims Dash released two of his albums in 2010 -- but the two still couldn't reach an agreement ... so Curren$y signed with Warner Bros. in January 2011.

But according to the lawsuit, Damon was unmoved -- and CONTINUED to release Curren$y's music despite the new WB contract, which gave WB exclusive rights to Curren$y's jams.

Now, Curren$y is demanding the producer quit profiting off him in any way. Curren$y also wants $1.5 million in damages.

But Damon fired back at the accusations with his own response -- claiming, he has the right to release the albums in question because he was given permission. What's more -- Damon says Curren$y stabbed him in the back, reneging on his agreement with Damon and signing with WB instead.

A judge has yet to rule on the case.

Dash's legal team's response... it's pretty badass I think:

My client's initial reaction to the lawsuit was that of surprise, particularly in light of Curren$y's numerous statements that the Muscle Car Chronicles would be released by BluRoc.

On March 15, 2012, the plaintiffs appeared in Federal Court to argue for a preliminary injunction seeking to enjoin my client from the continued distribution of Muscle Car Chronicles.

The plaintiffs' application was denied in open Court by Federal Judge Andrew Carter and the album was permitted to remain available through iTunes and other retailers. While the situation remains ongoing, we are hopeful that an amicable resolution can be reached.

My client wishes Curren$y the best in all of his future career endeavors. However, he has expressed a deep concern with respect to the manner in which the artist's attorney and manager have conducted themselves. He sincerely hopes that Curren$y is not being misled or pressured into making unwise decisions, such as the filing of what appears to be a potentially frivolous litigation.

MCC didntt do low number justt cause its spitta, it did low cause it was unexpected AND only online. Every other release curren$y does at least 10-20 k first week. Not saying its huge, but he def gets a good amount from album sales, not just tours.

Finally some news regarding these two comes out. For the longest time I was wondering how Spitta went from DD172 to Warner Brothers just like that...one month after he comes out with a song called record deals.

In the end, I feel like legally Spitta' might be right...but Dame did a lot of him man and he did just walk out on him basically. I will always consider PT and PT@ DD172 albums so I thought they should continue to sell them.

It's def worse than that, I think Dame thought 'Spitta was in it for the long haul and was gonna' be a better Jay with him. Thing is though as bad as I do feel for Dame because he's always taking losses...you have to remember 'Spitta has been in the game a real long time. Been through No Limit and Young Money labels and left to do it on his own. He didn't want Dame to be able to take credit for 'Spitta making it big and I'm kind of glad that we can see him do it on his own.

Seriously though..look what Dame is doing hahahha

curren$y started fly society, invited terry kennedy, and in the end TK took it from him.
if anything i think curren$y was the one taken advantage of in that situation.
idk about the DD172 situation, my guess is that curren$y signed with warner bros cuz they let him start JLR and put his homies (trademark, roddy, monsta beatz, etc) on.
