There's so much hype around this guy, but I've heard mixed opinions, some say he sucks and sounds like a fake wayne, some think he's the best shit ever. So, what are some good songs so I can actually make a decent opinion and maybe be a fan?

Download Culdesac, EP, & Camp. With CG you either love him or hate him

wow, best ive heard is freaks and geeks, but I can agree he sounds like wayne, not voice, just flow. He would need to come a lot harder to impress me. Im actually more intrested in who produces for him, or is he self produced?

Yeah I think he should stick to producing and acting, those are his strong points, not rapping. I mean if its something he loves, go for it, but dont get a false sense of importance. Im sure the rap game could do without mr.glover

Being a big gambino fan,I'd say his best body of work is camp.Almost every song on the album is good.
EP and culdesac are good too,and Poindexter is an honorable mention.

Ok, now I can honestly say I dont like his shit. Raps mediocre at best, and the voice is terrible. I dont really see the appeal, since im sure most of his fans listen to people way better than him. I mean he's not even stuck in your head kind of good, he's just irritating.

Yeah. I think if you're not a histper, white, into indie rock, or have the same life story as him you won't like it. I like CG because his music isn't straight up rap. It's like rap/indie rock. Also, I'm a nerdy black kid who grew up in the suburbs so it's like listening to my memories with a soundtrack. CG is to nerdy black dudes what Gucci Mane is to hood niggas.

This is the best Childish Gambino song hands down and proof that if he focused on producing he could kill.

agree, never even liked this dude when he was hyped.

CG always is saying "I'm not a drake blah blah", the more he says that it takes away from him trying to make his own identity, which he yet to makes. I don't know where this dude's career is heading. He will always keep his head above water but I don't think rapping is a strength.

if i were you i would start with Camp. Listen to that album from beginning to end a handful of times. not only is the content (lyrics & beats) quality, but the story he portrays makes for a great album. on another note, the diversity of the different sounding songs is something he took a risk with and it deff paid off!

i fucked with his earlier shit, but not nearly as much as Camp. I know hes still the same person rapping, but i feel like since his older days, he's found his sound.
(TO ME ATLEAST), he's found the correct pitch of his voice. something that i know bothers alot of his listeners... myself included. but to be honest, this gripe was mainly found on the mixtape/EP for me, and not so much Camp.

just my $.02

I listen to him on a very regular basis. He makes songs where he goes in and just raps and also personal songs. I like the personal ones more. His singing is legit imo. Here are some of my faves.

Thats alot of songs but if you dont like those then you probably shouldnt listen to him. Like previously stated, CG is NOT for everyone. I recommend Culdesac first then EP then listening to Camp so you can get a feel of his journey somewhat(cliche). I'm a big fan of his tbh.
