i thought section80 was alright, but it did nothing for such a talented artist, like okay sure now a few more college kids know about kendrick, but like if u compare section80 to OD, its a different kendrick, and im not taking anything away from section80, the idea/concept was amazing, the track flow was flawless, but he more or less created a body of work, with stellar outstanding moments..which i feel is something he could of always done, why did he do it now yah know?....even the videos for the songs off section80 were not as good as the OD videos, except for the track cole produced that video was dope, but still lacking.............

section80 was more darker then OD

OD was more bright and typical new rapper

but section80 actually had concepts that rappers dont even touch on,dude is going to be such an awesome rapper once he get some big name production behind him

Or people just favor rap. Have you thought about that?

This site has always been centered more towards rap.

Honestly, My Favorite Of This Year Is GOBLIN, But I Would Have To Go With Weekend At Burnie's As The Best. I Didn't expect Spitta To Stay The Same After The Warner Deal, He Came Through Though

Watch the fuckin throne. This shit is fuckin crazy, anyone who says otherwise is bugging. Who else in the game is fuckin setting trends like this? Like there are definitely unique styles out there, but nothing that speaks to hip hop as much as WTT. Take Care is dope, but its soft as fuck which is not the nature of hip hop. Goblin is dope too, but who listens to that other than OF fans? shit that has an impact on more people clearly is better music at the end of the day, because it relates to more people, meaning more people will be listening to it later on, and the replay-ability and lasting value of an album are mad important. I can't really speak to the rock music that came out this year. But ultimately, the one album that people will remember 2011 by is watch the throne. Kanye and Jay are geniuses. I think the only problem with the album is the fact that their lyrics are way too much about their hedonistic lifestyles. Also some people criticized the simplicity of the lyrics on the album too. I mean, you think Jay couldn't have written mad lyrical shit if he wanted to? He could've, go listen to the more recent shit he's done like his verses on MBDTF, he just chose not to because he wanted his shit to appeal to more people which is smart as fuck anyway cuz most listeners couldn't get his lyrical shit. Kanye's lyrics are Kanye's lyrics haha, but he shines in the production aspect of the album, which is GOD, and the way he utilized the talents of other artists was nuts.

@soussoul, who listens to goblin other than OF Fans? Nigga who listens to an album with kanye west and jay-z on every song besides kanye and jay-z fans? And last time I checked, utilizing aspects of other artists was called Biting?

Yeah, its biting if they do it without including the other artists on their album, Kanye like collaborated with other talents and made new unique shit going off how they work to begin with

In retrospect, this year was pretty underwhelming when it came to Hip-Hop releases.. they were a few good releases but nothing AMAZING.
