And any legit hood nigga will tell you that you don't do the shit you rap about, so either he was in the streets earlier on his life running homes and leaving garden gnomes he isn't doing that shit now

word. we had some local rappers where i live that who could make the best hood anthems imo.

but they talked too much about shit that they actually did (in depth too)
1 of them niggas in jail for 20 years behind a murder now, and the other one is in for 10 behind a gun charge...

Max B and Boosie were bout it but they were dumb for still hanging in the hood after being famous. Boosie pulled up in the hood with a Phantom. making yourself a target bruh. Vince said on the mixtape he dont even be in the hood anymore just for that reason. To stay out of trouble. Dont mean he aint bout shit.

Yeah I've heard about these "Fox Kids" niggas claiming they bang. He probably only pulls off some wanton shoplifting and small-time drug dealing that most black kids who grew up on G-Funk have done. Trust me, I know.

I doubt that he does/did ANY of the stuff he raps about, but... I don't care because its entertainment.. music. Motherfuckers worried about what set he's claiming, as long as he raps well who cares. Like really do you think Wayne did ANY of that shit be rapped about? Nigga said he shot himself... the Carter 2 is a classic.

lol Wayne really did shoot himself tho

The white bitches I went to college didn't care about that fact. And the fact that they didn't care is exactly why I don't go after white bitches anymore.

I made a thread on this in the Off-Topic section that some of y'all were giving me shit for, but I had a nigga back in Los Angeles that's been on lock for a year for some mid-level misdemeanor and he just came out, so lo and behold! He wants to start spittin again now that he has cred. See what you've done, DMX? At least when T.I. got locked up again and again, each time afterward he tried that uplifting shit.

At the end of the day if an artist is really tryna make an impact in music they should forget about tryna claim streets. I see that as a defense mechanism when people say shit like "I've been around the block" or "I did dirt when I was a kid" etc. Nobody gives a fuck about that shit unless you turn it into something that sounds reeeaaaallly dope. Play a low profile, and if you gotta prove yourself, do it. If you talk it and can't walk then shit you dug your own grave. /rant
Other than that this dudes music is dope. Anybody seeing him in Culver City with Speak for $7 and an open bar?

Thats what I was thinking. Finally gave vince a chance and peepd this yesterday. I listened to it far gone off the blunt and the codeine so maybe I was a little more inclined to be blown away, but damn, one of the only tapes that I felt like bumping 100% all the way through in a while. Homies were vibin too. I'll have to re-listen and see if my opinion sticks.

Personally, Vince's psuedo-gangbanger shtick is way more intereresting than Tyler's shock rap (and that's what it is, even though he won't admit it).

You can tell Vince is way too educated to have been involved in 80% of the activities he raps about, but some of what he says is real, and he's good at illustrating an amoral thug with activist tendencies.

From "Trigga Witta Heart"

Abraham Lincoln never kept none of my nigga's safe
Only gave them prison dates
And Church's Chicken dinner plate's
Columbus is beloved
When the fuck will Malcom get a day?
Probably never, Try to hide the truth
But they hardly clever
Only show the youth
House niggas wear Cosby sweaters

This. Yes we all know that Earl is good. But still has the same flow from like 09, even the new verse we heard. Ever since Epar Vince has been going even harder.

Tyler didn't want Vince in Odd Future. They don't like each other. I'm guessing the reason behind their disliking of each other comes from knowing that they have similar mentalities. Tyler's more of a "crazy white boy" and Vince is more of a "Tupac-esque activist-thug" (he even sampled Tupac in the song I posted above, "Trigga Witta Heart"). However, they're both Type A personalities. Vince wouldn't be in Odd Future unless he was leading the group. So Tyler never let him in even though Syd and Mike G (Vince's older brother) probably wanted him in. Tyler just used Hodgy to fill up the space that Vince would've held, but Hodgy's a 6 at best while Vince is an 8.5, at the very least.

However, Tyler did admit Vince's verse on "Taxi" was aight. That was just Tyler saying that he respects Vince's flow, but I doubt Tyler would say exactly that.

Untitled EP. and tell me he raps about "rubbish". even if so, if its executed well, who really cares? Earl Raps about literally nothing on almost half of the songs on EARL, and yall swallow his dick daily.

Most rappers these days rap about nothing. We're in the Swag Age...all you can rap about is about how much better you are at rapping than the next guy. Alot of Vince's songs actually do have themes. The reason Earl gets props is cuz his wordplay is fucking insane...then again, he is the grandson of a poet.

I'll listen to the Untitled EP and think about whether or not my opinion will change, but my friend did buy BlackenedWhite at the OF store on Fairfax and we played it on the way back home, twice. The album is alright but forgettable. However, GunSounds, Gram and Fuck The Police all bang as far as Hodgy is concerned.
