Goblin, Watch The Throne, Ferrari Boyz, and even Tha Carter IV all have their moments, but let's be honest, they didn't live up to the hype.

Are we just hypin' shit up too much these days or did the artists not come through?

What are your thoughts on the hyped up albums of 2011 so far? Predictions for the rest of the year?

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm thinkin' Rick Ross might come through when God Forgives, I Don't comes out. Drake's been puttin' out some good shit too, and I don't usually fuck with him. Not sure if he can keep my interest for a full album, though.

WTT proved to be one of the worst albums of the year. Shit was overhyped. Jay-Z pretty much saved that album.

C4 lived up to its hype by far the best hip hop album of the year so far.

TGSNT was cool

lol if you're looking for quality in major label releases then you're stupid as fuck to begin with. Section 80, XXX, Relax, all top notch music.

All I do is smoke weed, blow lines, and listen to MF DOOM. And rap. http://www.facebook.com/SpacemanNYC

Plenty of good non rap albums have come out this year doe
It saddens me that more people have listened to WTT than Major/Minor, Icky Mettle, Life's Rich Pageant re release, Pull Up Some Dust and Sit Down, etc.

Meh, I fuck with both mainstream and underground music. Both are good sources of music, imo. There's more lyricism in the underground stuff, and I do like Section.80 a lot, but the mainstream usually comes through in terms of production.

Hmm, I actually haven't fucked with too much indie/rock stuff in a while. I was feelin' some of that "future garage" stuff from last year, though, like James Blake's EPs, Mount Kimbie, etc. because I thought the production/rhythms were interesting. Aren't half of the albums you listed not from 2011, tho? lol.

yea Carter 4 met my expectations of being as shitty as i expected it to be. section 80 was cool because i hadnt really listened to kendrick until then so i had no expectations and WTT met my expectations, some of yall just hate to hate or had unreachable expectations for the album. havent heard J Coles shit yet but i know im gonna hate it. Goblin was cool when i first listened to it and for a few days afterwards but i didnt replay it nearly as much as i did Bastard.

There's actually speculation that he may end up in Def Jam since Sha Money XL is working them.

I wouldn't mind it if it gives Banks more exposure.
