he's doing what most songwriters do: driving storytelling by building off past experiences. in this instance, feelings that are so self-conflicting that the obvious outlet is to put pen to paper; a passionate and heartfelt expression of love, hate, guilt, etc. homosexuality shouldn't be the focus here. hell, i could relate to some of his stories for heartbreak from a hetero perspective.
