how many ppl have actually seen cole live? i went to see him at a local small venue, he was pretty good. and whoever said he cant have a mainstream hit is confused, all this ♥♥♥♥♥ needs to do is release another song with miguel, that shit was all over. i know it wasnt his song but he could use the same formula.

50-70k is nothing compared to atlot of rappers out there. I heard Jay-z gets a million a show and every member of wu-tang got 350k a show at their last tour. So its very possible that he can be making that amount.When tickets go from $20 to $60 a show

Yeah but rapping skills don't always draw crowds. I'm not saying he isn't dope but don't assume just because Based God and Boosie are making tht much that doesn't mean Cole is. Trae dudes have had hits and Boosie and Jim had hits along with albums. I agree if he's gonna be a household name he needs to work on his image but he may not care about that, I know his fans don't. As far as show money goes, there's a lot of deductions before the artist gets their money.

1) they have to clear the amount it costs to rent the venue
2) they have to pay for use of stage equipment, lighting, pay the people setting up the shit if they have any and pay union fees for the people working at the venue
3) finally they have to pay for their own touring expenses

if you're playing a 1,200 seaters at 20 each that's $24,000 and a good 10k of that is going to venue and union fees.

No way in hell Lil B is making 100k a show. Has he even played a venue with more than 700 seats?

As far as J. Cole. I don't see him touring for much longer if he doesn't get a hit. He didn't write Whoop There It Is which has nostalgic value. He who Who Dat which people have already forgotten.

The more mainstream appeal, image, character, demand you have the more money you get per show. J Cole is super sick and if it was the 90s or even the early 2000s again omg J Cole would be the biggest artist next to even Jay. But in 2011 it doesn't work that way sadly. J Cole is so slept on but its true your AVERAGE ear does not care about REAL RAP. They respect it of course but its not on their daily playlist of songs. I place a bet that a high percentage of you on this forum prefer hip-hop over hip-pop lol. Hip-hop started out underground then blew mainstream full time in the mid 90s-early to mid 2000s to now being underground again. This techno hip hop, cataracs, poppy, club, rap is all over the radio waves even over here in the West Coast.
