Make no mistake about it, Odd Future Wolf Gang, their fans, and the legion of label heads, media, and bloggers who follow them are a full blown cult. And Tyler, the Creator, is their asthmatic, Supreme cap wearing, leopard print t-shirt clad Jim Jones.

The frenetic following of tight panted teenagers methodically drowned out any possibility of doubting Odd Future’s potential with choruses of “Wolf! Gang! Swag!,” at decibel levels that Earl probably heard from behind the bars of whatever institution prevented him from performing last night. And then the clan leader, the rap prophet, the nineteen year old kid from Southern California who in about one month’s time went from Youtube anomaly to New York Times, Pitchfork, and Fader blog post fodder emerged from the depths of backstage.

To the halting, spastic sounds of “Sandwitches,” out stutter steps a six foot tall bobble head named Tyler dragging himself across the stage. His cult’s priestly robes re-appropriated in the form of a Bathing Ape hoody pulled back to reveal a head wrapped in moss green beanie marked only by an upside down cross scribbled on with Sharpie marker. From somewhere within those cotton wrappings, a deep gravely voice that makes Tyler sound like he’s been chewing on rocks, avalanches through the dense air declaring, “Who the fuck invited Mr. I Don’t Give A Fuck?!” while the walls of Webster shake with the weight of teenage angst and impending doom.

Read the rest on Madbury.

They killed it. To see Tyler go from fucking up HB threads with ridiculous comments, to listening to his Secret Garden beat back in the Myspace days to packing Webster with every single mag/label and a legion of fans is amazing.

And when they say labels and mags were there, literally...every single magazine/blog/site was at that show. But Madbury still has the best coverage.

All due props to Tyler. Swag.

Brook Bobbins says:

"Damn, can I get a credit on that photo or the videos?"

But yo Im still buzzing over that show last night. They need to do another show in nyc or something.
Nov 09, 2010 @ 13:13
Yo I wasnt even workin for the Voice last night, they ganked that shit.

Then sent me an email

"Hey man-
No disrespect intended by not crediting your photo. When I saw it this
morning I couldn't figure out where it had come from. That's fixed now.
again, totally sorry..."

For real tho, that was really good. I feel like thats the energy when like Wu was gettin on but not quite there yet. It was the best rap show I've seen in a long time, it may not be totally worked out yet but the energy in there was just crazy.
