Maybe its just me, but Lupe doesnt tickle my fancy....i mean i give him props because he is from Chicago-and because he is doing his thing, but foreal i seen him at Sneakerpimps Chicago and i thought he was wack as ever. I mean this is the fourth time ive seen him live, and i usually pass judgment until i see a performer live, but he has yet to vindicate himself...sorry lupe.

I agree with you on this one. It amaizes me that this dude gets the amount of press that he does. He's mediocre but you gotta understand that Kanye's camp has a flock of sheep following their every move. Whatever they do is considered golden. |0

i think its the idea that he likes shoes and has a blog on hype beast that has alot with the "hyping" of his music...to be honest, i can name 12-13 cats from the Chicago area that could easily eat him up when it comes to lyrical content and style...i mean his album hasnt dropped and i think ive seen him on 14 magazine covers talking about his album, chicken and beer, oh waite..food and liquor smile

I like Lupe's music a lot. He talks about shit a lot of other rappers don't and shit I can actually relate to. It's not all about rollin in escalades and shooting people and all that stuff that most rappers these days talk about. And there no way you guys can honestly say that Revenge of the Nerds and A Rhyming Ape weren't awseome( His 2nd mixtape was good but didn't really compare to the others)

exactly like i said he represents and embodies alot of people kids like me who grew up in the hood but liked anime skateboarding video games and comic books i was pretty much one of the very very very few its cool to see a rapper who liked/likes the same things and is a positive role model for the younger kids growing up like my little brother say what you may about his music but i think hes the best role model these kids can possibly have right now

I feel the same..Hip-Hop is almost a wrap and folks like Lupe aren't doing much to help it. But I guess I can see why a certain group might like him..

Oh, and if he's so against alcohol why is his album called "food & Liquor"?

huh?? well i listen to alot of cats from Jay, Nas to Saigon and Lupe, i dout you can find 12 cats period that could fuck wit him on wordplay a loan. and personaly i dont give a fuck what Lupe wears or if he's a skateboarder or not. the boy is a beast when it comes to lyrics, wordplay and emcee skills.even his gun play lyrics are deep.

bare/bear arms like Lebat Blue, oh yes there bullets in the toasters, as many as the clips that the gun hold, and the itching to come out the magazines like the posters that unfold, so my heat like Tigerbeat,

so if Lupes a coupe, my man is a sadden, there's more than 2 of us then you up against a van, if im leaving then you leaving if your *****s wanna come y'all can ride with me there's just gonna be alot of squeezing, you understand?,

as i lean, back like limbo in 64's like Nintendo, clean, don't intervene chumps, y'all far from the hood like limousine trunks.....and i squeeze into cars like mini full of clowns or a coupe full of clumps,

Doesnt Lupe seem like Pharrels little brother or something, who's been hanging out with Kanye too much.

Hes fine, nothing special. If he didnt talk about skateboarding or wear what he wears would anyone care about him?

There's nothing wrong with liking a rapper that speaks on different down to earth shit but I doubt Lupe is totally innocent when it comes to bling. Look at his flashy ass clothes. You've seen it, those lens crafters pants remember haha. Listen if you want rappers that talk about something other than the normal hood rappers talk about look to the underground. The underground got a lot of cats that could be far better role models than Kanye West, Lupe and their cronies. Check Asheru. He's dope.

Cliches are obviously not only the driving force behind hip hop but also behind its fans. And, thats across the boards...the mainstream sheep, if you diss a MC they like they will call you a hater. On the other hand high and mighty elitists music lovers will call you a dick rider if you can *gasp* possibly enjoy an MC that other people seem to enjoy and embrace. Its all prefrence as everyone knows. Lupe is a master of word play some of the shit he says on the Farenheit mixtapes are jaw dropping. He isnt the best performer ever, nor does he have the best delivery..that in no way makes him wack tho imo.

I suppose your quotation marks around my words and then laughter at the end is there in place of valid argument.

I could actually use my brain, and post up examples but whats the use when the counter argument is "whaoa haha" oh wait...i used qutation marks too
haha

^and theres the laugh

^^^^haha........Quickstriker do you know what wordplay is fam? even on
"i got cha" he keeps if lyrical.

"they wanna smell like me, they want my bouquet, but they cant, they act scented/accented like the UK"

"they love the aroma of a romer of the world"

"welcome all of 'yall to my dark recesses
this is where i keep the bars like bathtub edges
my ivory's and my dove's
my lever's and my zest's
takes half of your bubble bath to match the freshness"

"and I be on my green like Irish spring"

Of course I know what wordplay is. Pos form De La Soul is one of my favorites. And these Lupe lyrics are cool but hardly jaw dropping.
