The beats imo aren't as good @Dha. The tracks that you and bkbrown submitted are exactly what i was looking for, a couple other beats that i got are cool too but other than that i know people wouldn't like this beat tape as much as the last two

Had this question recently as well, was going more for the Havoc style snares, I got kind of close. I layered two snares first - a naturally higher and lower one. Then I pitched them both up a bit, added FL Reverb 2 (lol I need more effects tbh), put some slight delay on them and EQ'd them so the "highs" were more noticeable. I really am an amateur when it comes to this kind of this though.

new beat for today yall.. just for the record my setup right now is Ableton and my trusty keyboard..nothing else lol... was using FL studio for almost a year but switched to Ableton recently. Can't say I like one over the other.. its really more about how you use the program... I personally like the Ableton interface more though... would love to get some hardware in the future but truthfully its not really all that necessary... alot of beatmaking is about tweaking it to your personal liking and not just to how other producers might do it.. for drums? try experimenting with compression (although sparingly, as most people do WAY too much with it) or try processing them through a filter of some sorts. I'd be happy to chop it up with any of yall who have questions. Keep it up everyone. It's great to see so many people so enthused about beats.

Ok so I don't have any beats, that's actually the problem... I need some.

My name is Nia Keturah and I'm about to release my first project next month. I'm pretty stoked about it, but as I was critiquing it today I realized what it was missing. Beats from 90's rb. I love me some Aaliyah, but that's not what I'm looking for though. That's what everybody has, not to diminish her appreciation at all (may she rest peacefully) but as a child of the times and I want some variety that holistically represents that minimal crooning movement.

iono how to do it on abelton but i used fl studio and just map out the pads on fpc and sample using edison
