yeah when i got mine the pads were pretty much done.. but you can always order the upgrade pads. if you find a cheap 1000 and replace the pads itll still be cheaper than a used 2500. But do what you gotta do.

i feel you, i have a mint 2000xl, but i hate corrupted files, and those scsi's take so damn to load. i got my 2500 a couple years back for around 800, so you should be able to maybe find it cheaper now.

but on the real quincy, i want to get on the sp game, seems so much more natural of a workflow! your beats bang!

Do it man, I love the machine. So many possibilities and it's affordable. I really want to use both the MPC and the SP. The 404 effects are real nasty, but the sequencer is crap for putting together beats (at least to me). I was using the resample/overdub technique for a bit, but I can't really mess with the sounds once I've layered and recorded them, so I've decided on the 404 + 2500 and then dumping into Logic...
