I'm starting to get into producing music and right now I'm using FL but I see there's a lot of hate towards it, and just people saying it isn't that good. I'm thinking of trying Reason or Ableton, what do you guys recommend for a beginner?

nothing wrong with FL, people mostly hate it because people overuse the default sample library

I use FL

soo.... i just got a midi controller and logic.

this is the first thing I made. I'm trying to create straight from the software instruments and avoid any sampling. There's no mixing at all so it sounds pretty raw. That's something I still have to learn.

Thoughts on the general music and composition aspect of it?

this is dope. the only thing I would change is the snare. maybe a more 'open' one would sound better, but overall, I like it.

I had taken the words out of his mouth and filled it with fart.

Any is good, as long as you learn them fully each. Each DAW can be good for beginners, the only difference in DAWs is the workflow I suggest downloading demos of each and trying them out after of course watching basic videos of things you would like to do with the program. If you like FL don't let anyone tell you it's crap which it's not BTW. But I say stick with FL studio great program to learn on with constant updates (others don't offer this/if you download it this doesn't apply) unless you don't mind paying later on for an upgrade. I first used Ableton though and now work with Reason usually rewire with Ableton.

yo this shit is straight. just try to tweak the instruments to make them sound a little more realistic and clear. The kick could be a little more round and full but that's just my taste really.

kvraudio(dot)com can help you escape from stock sounds, you can get drum kits/loops/rex files many places. Huge selection of free ones are on musicradar(dot)com all pro quality. Uhm any torrent can help you find some. If you don't mind paying Loopmasters and BigFishAudio provide high quality stuff.
