What I meant was, if they were to drop albums on the same day.. Jay-z would most likely sell more.

not sure about that...
May 11, 2010 @ 19:50:49
Em would outsell Jay if they dropped same day imo
May 11, 2010 @ 19:51:28

Smh, Jay is the king but Em comes very close to his throne imo. All you really got on Em is the Accent.

maybe when it came to relapse vs bp3 but that's cuz it was em's comeback album. if jay dropped an album same day as recovery, em wouldn't outsell hov.

just to keep it 100, it is the white suburban community that is responsible for most record sales, and it is the white suburban community that comes out and supports eminem full force when he drops an album.

I think if we were to somehow exclude that demographic, Jay would easily outsell eminem amongst the core of hip-hop fans. not the commercial core (white suburban), but the cultural core.

imo, while the cultural core of hip-hop recognize em's talent as an emcee, they really don't f with his music that much, especially as of late. The majority of them (imo anyway) don't vibe with him when he starts rapping about crazy ish, or with the accent, or when he makes parody songs(I personally hate those).

that being said. I respect Em. I think hes one of the best to ever do it. I think Em would beat Jay in a battle. em is a battle rapper.

but Em's catalog of music doesn't come anywhere close to Jay's in terms of quality.Nobodys does. Jay simply has a lot more good songs than eminem, and a lot more classic material, so many classic verses.

if by King of Hip-Hop we are talking straight lyrics, I think Em is a legitimate contender. But if we are talking about overall, in terms on influence, respect, catalog, longevity, i think most of the core of hip-hop would have about 5 names (dead or alive) in their head before they thought of em.

Why Not?

I know plenty of street nigas that fuck with Em. I think if you were to put BP3 vs Recovery Em would sell more. I mean the reason Jay did so well was due to the features on his singles. Empire State of mind, Run this town etc. Em has I'm not afraid which is the side of Em EVERYBODY likes and based off that his album is sure to go number one. I mean, It's kinda his comeback Album. Relapse was more of a experimental thing to get back into the album. Don't get me wrong, I love Jay but I think Em is more competition to him than you guys are giving him credit for. I agree Jay has more classic shit, he has been around longer though. Em has gone diamond on 2 albums i think and i don't believe Jay has one diamond one yet. /Stan.
May 12, 2010 @ 06:14:10
Nah Jay has no diamond album yet. Hope he does one day. His closest to being diamond status is Vol 2 which went 5x plat. Em doesn't really have a diamond album according to the RIAA.

I haven't listened to many of his albums, someone point me to some of his best to convince me, specific songs would be best...
From what I've heard (just stuff that is overplayed) his flow is kinda repetitive...
