you know how there's a genre of music called "Classic Rock"?
Classic Rock Bands includes bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones.
I mean, when they first came out, they were just rock and roll. it wasn't until years later that people recognized, wait a mintue, the songs that they made i the 60's and 70's are still relevant and appealing 20, 30, 40 years later.
like, Rolling Stones... some of their songs could ne released now, and it wouldn't sound dated.
So... do you think in a couple years Hip Hop will start showing signs of Classics? Hip Hop is much younger than rock and roll. You could (arguably) say hip hop started in the 80's. Well, we're now approaching about the 30'th year of hip hop, and its time some classics are to be determined (Run DMC, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest)
Who do you think (in today's music) will become future classics? Which songs that are out now do you think will be timeless?
i.e. I dont think someone like Soulja Boy and auto-tune tracks will be timeless. Like, I imagine listening to "Turn My Swag On" in the year 2025, and thinking, damn that shit is sooooooo 2000's.
are there any hip hop/rap songs that have some kind of lasting power like rock songs do?
