I personally like Led Zeppelin better but the Beatles are the most influential group in the history of pop music, this thread fails

You said it my friend. Pop music. The Beatles were a girl band. And oh yeah fuck Paul McCartney. He killed John Lennon and George Harrison. He's going to kill Ringo, just watch. He wants all the money to himself.

pop music, as in popular music, as in any type of music that you'll hear on the radio or be exposed to through mass media

But which one had the biggest impact in rock history? Led Zeppelin was not influenced by the Beatles. If anything they started two sub genres, hard rock and heavy metal(sort of)

Edit: I see where you going though. The Beatles were indeed big but were nothing hard like Led zeppelin.

you can directly hear Led Zeppelin's influence on most of the acts that follow them, the Beatles more than anything set a precedent for musical experimentation, song structure, and lyrical themes to the point where you can't even begin to track their influence, the Beatles influenced EVERYBODY

Sub the Doors with the Beatles then you have a better debate.

And the Beatles, btw.

I voted Pink Floyd because they're obviously the best. I think that most people confuse influential with successful when it comes to the Beatles. And at the end of the day, who cares about influential?

the question asked who was most influential to ROCK music. there's no doubt that The Beatles were most influential to pop, but regarding rock, its Zeppelin. Have you heard communication breakdown? that song paved the path that became punk music.
