I appreciate Ye for pushing hip hop and trying new things. I think it's dope that he's testing out some new shit. I mean I wasn't a fan of his 808s album, but I think Ye has shown a lot of growth. He's doing some good shit.

As far as his remarks about Souljah Boy being what hip hop is about. I really really doubt that. He is a product of what hip hop has generated but he isn't Hip Hop. Hip hop according to many of the greats was giving opportunity to those who weren't given it. It was another medium for those who didn't have one. Souljah Boy utilized that, but I highly doubt that he is helping to provide for anyone else. Proof is given by the video of his own boy saying that homie wouldn't even hook him up to get out of trouble. He's not providing a medium he's just trying to get his.

Ye, is hip hop because he's stooping to Souljah's level and giving him a chance. Boy's beats are tight, but homie is half retarded. Talking shit about Nas... that's some shit right there.

I kinda liked it better when we only gave soulja boy props for being a good business man. but a dope artist? is this the new trend? backlash of music elitism? showing mediocre artists love just because they are hated on by quote unquote hip hop snobs? His rap skills are trash, hooks are elementary IMO, and I think only about half of his hits were produced by him so I dunno why you guys are saying he's a good producer because the ones that were produced were by him are his most repetitive songs. I mean yeah some of his music bumps but I wouldn't really listen to it in my car, maybe only at parties because girls love his shit. Yeah it's good dance/party music but who CAN'T make decent dance music?

From day one I always though HB's fiery, end of the world, apocalyptic, end of the world attitude on Soulja Boy was both hilarious and ridiculous. Is his music stupid and ridiculous? Yes.
