The production of this song is a good one being produced by the neptunes and all. However the content of this song is lacking in my opinion. But hey what else can you expect from the clipse besides crack rap. Overall I give this song a solid 7 out of 10. You be the judge...

ew. sometimes Neptune beats literally just sound like noise. this is one of those instances IMO. i sure fucking hope this doesn't end up on the album. I had high hopes with the release of "Kind Of a Big Deal" but it's seems as though they might be heading in a difrection i'm not about to follow.

LOL I LOVE COMMERCIALLY VIABLE COKE RAP!

Shit's terrible, as were the last two tracks. I read in some interview that they're trying to cater to hipsters, which absolutely blows my mind. Next, they're probably gonna be on some autotune shit. I'm just gonna pretend everything they put out after February 2008 doesn't exist.

Kanye's overrated and the Play Clothes mixtape had....2 or 3 good songs on it, hardly "crack" by any means (the closest they've gotten to "crack" is WGI4C2). Nothing they've put out since WGI4C3 has even been close to the quality of their older stuff.

As for the commercial part, "good" coke rap (and lyric-driven rap in general) simply isn't radio-friendly, case closed. It's clear that they're trying to appeal to the masses and get radio play/money, which they absolutely deserve, just they're losing what made them so good in the first place - crazy metaphors and imagery. You honestly can't tell me "take it to the Maxx like TJ" is anywhere near as amazing as "the black Martha Stewart; let me tell you how to do it - break down pies to pieces, make cocaine quiches, money piled high as my nieces, Hefty bags full of cash...." That kind of stuff just doesn't work on normal radio stations. I realize that they need to get money and may have to change it up completely to do so (coughWaynecough), but I would appreciate it if a couple of the songs on the new album sounded like their older shit/Re-Up stuff.

As far as that radio comment that I just made, they certainly broke that rule with Grindin; I'm amazed that a song so chock full of cocaine references got so popular. Regardless, I don't think they're going to be able to do something like that again.

I like how they're marking their promo stuff in baggies to look like drugz....oh wait, Raekwon already did that. Fourteen years ago.

why are u comparing Kanye's TJ Max line to Clipse's older lines as a way to compare old Clipse to new Clipse?

...because Kanye arguably has the best verse in Kinda Like A Big Deal. I take into account other people's verses on Clipse songs as well; Ab-Liva and Sandman delivered incredible verses almost all the time on mixtapes/select songs from their albums.

If you're that intent on picking my shit apart, compare the Ride Around Shining lyrics to:

"Life's a maze, you twist and you turn through it/The driest of droughts, maneuvered and I earned through it
/I'm set straight like a perm do it, Push!"

...or anything else from the Thornton brothers on that track. Wow.

It's not like they can't do it; I'm listening to some Re-Up Gang right now and it's just banger after banger.

I mean i agree that they might not lyrically be where they were before

but they coming out with bangers

maybe the non-singles will be that raw shit
