I mean, Mainstream, no, The Notoriety is there, but they're def not mainstream artists. Indie rock isn't just music that has 400 views on youtube somewhere lol. In terms of surf rock, they're def a surf rock band. But they also have sheds of art rock, pop, etc. Father , Son , Holy Ghost had a different sound, but it was in the same vein. SmIle by the beach boys has a different sound than pet sounds but is that not surf rock? Get your genre game up.

and they aren't surf rock. you said it yourself. they have elements of pop, acoustic and that jangly guitar shit. just because they're beach boys imitators doesn't mean they're surf rock. it's a disservice to a pretty good band to pigeonhole them into a genre.
