Whoa, this is not dubstep as I know it.

This is dubstep as I understand it.

I dunno how we can have such different definitions.

haha that track is closer to drum and bass than it is dubstep. its on the more tech side, whereas the mix is a bit deeper

Dubstep basically revolves around loads of bass and wobble.

What you posted is a lot closer to house. You can ask the guys at the forum I spend more time at, Dogs on Acid. It's a production foru, DnB, dubstep, house and other forms of electronic music.

You realise that within each genre of music there are variations and sub genres right? You can call it electronica, but theres a specific difference between aphex twin and amon tobin, but they still are classified under the electronic bracket.

And I know dogs on Acid haha, Ive been posting on the Ninjatune forum since 2001..

I mostly lurk on DoA trying to absorb information, but I'm Spoony J.

I understand the variation thing. But Noisia and High Contrast are more similar to this and Caspa. But they have some things in common, mainly a 2 step beat. But this seems too far from what dubstep is and more like house. But this argument can go on forever. It sounds nice for what it is.

Lol, from the tracklist I couldn't actually see much dubstep. But then again I'm not a Dubstep feen like 90% of everyone seems to be atm.

Also why oh why does everyone par the fact that one of Dubsteps closest relatives is Grime? You from the UK Smoulder? If so where?

almost 100% of the artists on that mix identify themselves as dubstep. there is no argument to be had.
dub/halfstep/2-step/minimal/techno/hip hop/grime/etc. there's a long list of influences/styles/sounds throughout the scene

the ironic thing is.. the wobbler/jump up style you guys are claiming as "true" dubstep sounds nothing like the early tunes that actually molded & created the genre

Personally I feel that if you're favourite dubstep producers are; Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa or Chase & Status, then you're not listening enough.
