Need some recommendations for boots I can wear the fuck out in NYC winter.

For those who don't know, NYC winters = wet, snowy, slippery, and shitty

Budget: <$100

PS - I'm researching early.

And you think the ones you just quoted will protect that guy's feet during an NYC winter? His only other option is Tims on sale for a <100 price.

Red Wing knockoffs, Bean boots, Cookies

Oh, and for the person asking about best sub-100 boots, Bean boots for sure. I'm guessing NY winters are the same as Philly winters, and Beans do the trick. I guess if you're on some hype faggot shit, they won't look good to you, but they fit my aesthetic and they work very well in shitty weather. There's a reason they've been around and will be around forever. I actually wear mine in the spring/summer too when there's a lot of rain.

Clarks aren't meant for bad weather _at all_. The gum sole gets FUCKED with any moisture/weather conditions. I have no idea why people are suggesting that shit in here, they have no idea what they're talking about.

^ Seriously.

I wore my DBs one day, when it suddenly started raining. I can't count how many times I slipped.

Lesson: Don't wear anything with crepe/gum soles in shitty weather.

Listen to these two. Most of the people posting Clarks in here either don't know what an actual winter is or are just plain idiots. The ones being posted in the thread are usually thin leathered or made out of suede and have crepe soles, all of which are horrible for winter weather. Clarks are only good for summer, fall and maybe parts of spring when it isn't raining.

When looking for winter boots, you have to ask yourself

Are they waterproof?

Will they keep my feet warm or moderately warm?

Do they have good traction/grip?

Will salt mixed with melted snow fuck up the soles?

Will my socks get wet if I were to step in a puddle or a foot of snow?
^ Do you have a boot (<$100) that fits all those criteria?

And yeah, I'm guessing most of you who recommend Clarks for the winter suffer "chilly" winters. I'm talking about real winters like in NYC, where you get freezing, cold water mixed with dirty snow and slippery ice.

Your best bet would be a pair of bean boots.

Click on that link. They also have great customer service and return policies.

Need something like the silhouette of visvim - not too thick like boots and not small like boat shoes.

Like this without the lefty price tag. =\

Sperry actually makes something like that, little more support than a boat shoe. Possibly a little pricey for you depending on your budget, but loads less than the Quoddys and decent quality.

I dunno if you're one of those people that's of the mindset that LL Bean is some old man shit, but these are actually really nice too, 2/3 the price of the Sperrys, and quality on Bean stuff is always solid. From what I hear, the colors are a lot more vibrant in real life.
