Anyone heard of Uniform Wares? Found them online last week, my next watch purchase will probably be from them. Loving the simplistic flow.

^ for over 300 dollars, you should be getting more than a cheap Quartz movement.
If it looks like it's worth 300, go for it.

Im buying this soon:

^ sick.
i like the idea of an automatic watch, but i get annoyed with having to set it like every week.
i ended up giving my automatics to my brother.
April 10, 2012 @ 06:05:02
What autos did you have?
April 10, 2012 @ 06:29:45
nothing baller
vintage seiko 5, invicta 8926, and like 5 different cheap chinese autos haha.
April 11, 2012 @ 06:50:38
I think if you went with a swiss auto, you wouldn't be as annoyed with adjustments. The Chinese Seagull movements you had were probably +5 MINUTES a day lol! The Seiko was probably +30 or -30 seconds per day since it's a vintage movement and most of all... unserviced for a very long time. The Invicta probably didn't give you too much trouble with accuracy (if you got a good copy), because they have a reliable Miyota 8215 movement in them. The only problem is... Invicta probably found a way to fuck it up since they are a shit brand. And finally, you had to adjust them all everyday, because you have 7 watches in rotation. I enjoy adjusting, cleaning and changing straps on all my watches. Quartz watches feel soul-less to me.
April 11, 2012 @ 07:24:34
My Chinese ones were seagull movements, ran about 1-2min fast a day. Bought each like $20 on Ebay. My entry into automatics haha.
My Invicta runs really well though, never serviced, at about +7 sec a day.
Contrary to most thoughts, I really really liked my Invicta. Ran really well, with nice hefty weight, and classic submariner look. Lume was decent too. Awesome buy for like $60, made sure to get the coin bezel version though.

Yeah thats the thing about me, I like to switch watches pretty often just to change up my look. I definitely love the essence and mechanic of automatic watches though. It's beautiful.
But for my lifestyle, I think quartz watches suit me better.

Currently rocking a sterile Swiss Ronda 515 movement field watch that I picked up super cheap. Rocking a black nato strap, but will get more soon :]

Omega Seamaster (blue dial) and Rolex Submariner (black dial)
then used to rock a g-shock but it's too bulky now i don't feel it anymore, then sometimes rock the oldschool casio.

Timex x J Crew watch w/ a Brooks Brothers strap.

I usually just rock a solid color strap though.

April 17, 2012 @ 19:28:17

I have about 5 straps from J Crew that fit fine. I just saw some plaid Brooks Brothers ones super cheap on ebay and pulled the trigger. Didn't work out too well.

April 26, 2012 @ 13:25:51
currently rocking the hundreds g shock and got a couple armani ones that look nice when needing a smarter look but are pretty shit.

definately looking to spend a bit on my next piece and get a proper watch. i'm praying that by the time that comes, my uncle will be bored of his a.lange and sohne piece and willing to pass it down to me for a big discount. if not, probably looking at between 1,500 - 2,000. i've always liked the look of a couple raymond weil's so maybe something from their don giovani, parfisal or maestro collections. can anyone recommend any alternatives
April 27, 2012 @ 01:04:06
I recently saw a vintage IWC pilot watch for around 2G's. There are a lot of decent vintage swiss watches around your price range. But make sure you know what you're doing first, before purchasing a vintage watch.
April 27, 2012 @ 09:07:02
yea, i want to try avoid the vintage route cos i don't really know that much about watches, but will def be reading up on it when it comes to making a purchase decision.

my mates got a really nice iwc portofino which he got for about 3k, but i think their discontinued now. i really like the classic understated look with a simple face and leather strap
