4-5 comfortable t-shirts
(i like to wear obey t's as undershirts due to comfort level)

2-3 pairs (1 raw, 1 regular wash)

sneakers: 2 pairs

1 black takashi dunk low (my dress shoe =)
1 white air max 1 (all purpose sneak)

a belt (one side black, one maroon)

express wool jacket (its cold in the midwest)

black skull cap (nautica)

2 hoodies

2 button downs (one plain white express, one blue/grey/black CK)

this would be if i just needed casual clothing

obviously work is another beast (nice pants, ties, shoes, etc)

I'm 26 years old.. I feel like disclosing age is important

Buy things according to how much you need them.

I buy alot of cheap sneakers cuz i kno i'll always want more sneakers,i have 3 main pairs right now, none costing over $50.

I jus um "splurged" on an $80 polo jacket cuz i kno i'll wear it alot, and for a long time.

I'm thinking of spending on some very nice jeans soon, cuz i only wear 2 pairs which are both nautica, one light, one dark.

I got alot of suit stuff, but i want more,cus...i like suits.

Buy according to need.Don't buy $5000 sneakers that'll last 3 months

I don't make money since I'm still at a young age, so I'm kind of forced to work with this minimalistic style. But I can still live life and look okay even if I don't have name brands. I live on:

Plain T's (White, Black)
Plain Hoodie's

What timeless shoes would you guys recommend?

I'm thinking of buying just 2 solid pairs that go with anything and everything. Most of the time, I wear slacks (for school) and I just throw on beaters while going to school (and then changing to Sebagos from my locker).

Currently on my mind are Half Cabs and ________.

Yea but I get my crap on sale, and for cheap. and alot of cheap stuff from military surplus stores, that plus my government discount. haha nice.

There are soo many sick military clothing pieces. OMG I love being a cadet. haha.

Pretty much the only thing that I spend alot on is shoes, hats, and some t-shirts.

This is something that has really come to my attention as of late. I've had a lot of decisions that I feel are important at a critical time in my life. Do I want to go this way or this way with style? Most of it is trying to individualize myself but at the same time become more mature and clean with the way I present myself.

At the current moment, this is my philosophy. I'm basically done with the graphic tee, the senseless purchases, and impulse buys. To me, sneakers have always been something more than the clothing I wear. I'll rock a blank shirt with a nice pair of denim and high-tops all day long. To me, that is much more mature and I'm really trying to get away from graphic tees, and move more towards button downs, zip-ups, longsleeve shirts, and minimal tees. When it comes down to it, I think somebody who has knowledge of sneakers and bases their wardrobe off that is what wins.

I agree with this 100%

I'm going for just a few high quality staples and jeans. And when it comes to purchasing shoes, it's what ever I like because like TCP said they're little more special than any other piece of clothing.

My take on being a minimalist is not really low budget shopping or low priced substitutes (levi's and hanes t-shirts) But saving up and just investing some good pieces.

And no bold graphic tees

for me, its kinda what i wear everyday.

5 T-shirts = AAA shirts, dont care about graphics. Mostly rogue status tho.
2 Jeans = 1 dior slim raw, 1 kr3w CM (same fit, LOVE the fit)
2 pull-over hoodies = anything, long as its heavy
2 pairs of shoes = 1 gucci dress shoe, 1 supra
1 belt = anything.
1 jacket = m65 from H&M

thats about it.

I'd go with one pair vulcanized/thinner sole; Probably chucks or jacks. I'd probably lean towards jacks more because of a bias (grew up around some honger kids who always wore that shit lol). And then one pair with a thicker sole. some sort of runner, white preferrably. AM1's come to mind simply cause they're comfy as fuck. I saw a pair of all white adidas ZX's before that I thought had a clean aesthetic to them. if ever i find a pic of them I'll post a pic.

Woah, cool, the topic I made in July has risen from the grave. Interesting to see how in around five months your outlook can change. When I made this topic I was obviously struggling to determine what I needed in my wardrobe, and these days I think I've decided, or at least I know what I'll be wearing for the next few months. It turns out the direction I ended up taking was indeed minimal, but more mature as well. I dress like an old man, to be honest. I suppose it's inappropriate for me to stay a member of a forum dedicated to streetwear and hawt new sneaker jawnz, but hey you guys are pretty alright.

Sonic's entire wardrobe for January-April 2009:

Shoes: 1 pair Clarks Wallabee Boots, grey suede, 1 pair Vans Half Cabs, orange.
Pants: 1 pair Levi's 501XX
Tees: 2 white, 2 black, 2 grey, 2 blue, 1 red.
Shirts: 1 Ransom collared (white), 2 Nove collared (1 grey 1 plaid)
Sweaters: 1 Matinique black V-Neck, 1 Converse by John Varvatos cardigan
Hoodies: Wings + Horns
Misc: boxers, wool socks, 3 knit ties (black, tan, burgundy, all vintage), scarf, Ransom toque.
Jackets: Matinique grey wool sport coat, Eddie Bauer peacoat.

There we go, my entire wardrobe. No graphic tees, two pairs of shoes, 1 hoody, not only 1 pair of jeans, but only 1 pair of pants total. Wow. God help me if I throw up all over them or whatever. But hey, I'm actually pretty happy with how this turned out.

Looks like your set.
For me, all i need is
1 pair of classic black/white adidas superstars.(OhSnap, this is my timeless pair)
1-3 pairs of vans authentics(red, navy, black, etc.)
I just get a shit load of Levis(don't care to much about jeans since i usually rip 'em when i skate)
plain t's(i prefer AAA)
and supreme tee's when i wanna look fly i guess.

i was thinking about shit like this when i did some serious shopping this weekend. almost all the stores i went into were full of stuff that will look so corny next season. all over prints on some dusty ass earth tone shirt that feels like consistency of toilet paper. then some jeans with obnoxious stitching on the back pockets that are $200+. going to the club is embarassing seeing some of these outfits.

i always keep some clean tee shirts and v-necks in white, black, grey.

clean jeans with good cuts (IMO) like nudie, edwin, levis, dior

streamlined shoes like vans, clae, rockport, s***r.

flashy sneakers once in a while that will " make an outfit"

quality, long lasting accessories like belts and leather goods from louis vuitton. costs a grip but will last longer than some people live.

I went through this phase as well back in 00 up until 03 I stopped buying alot of clothing. Back then I was buying up all the Triple 5 Soul, TRIBAL, Ecko (at the time when they made more decent clothing), LRG(also when they made better clothing) and GOORIN Brothers hats. Before I knew it I had too much and not enough space. I started to sell of alot of my LRG because of the mass prodution that had started and Triple 5 Soul was bought by Ecko in 03 and from there their designs went to shit so I had lost alot of interest in clothing/ fashion. I started back up with the whole clothing and all that again in 06. Its hard not to get back into it but I can feel you when you want to go minimalist. Because in the end is it really worth all the money you paid? Or maybe as individuals we just have to take a break from all the hype. Whatever it may be I think its good just to stand back and breath, just live and take things easy.

Alot of my wardrobe is sort of minimalist. Two light and dark pairs of jeans. Two pairs of sneakers (light pair/dark pair), two jackets... It keeps things simpler.

I NEED all the tops in the world though. I get bored with my wardrobe if i wear the same stuff for too long.
