I've slowed it down alot lately with coppin fitteds there's not as many new releases that are appealing to me, plus the fact that New Era whores themselves out to every "streetwear" brand to the point where having your own custom New Era means nothing anymore. I can understand that New Era wants to make money, but look at Nike they don't do sneaker collabos with every single brand under the sun they're much more selective about who they collaborate with. There's a handful of new releases I want (new SSUR fitteds in particular) but these days I pass on 90% of the new hats that come out, and that's saying something because I will always have an undying love for hats. I'm also selling a bunch of rare hats check the link.
New Era has no choice but to "whore" themselves out to these companies, as you put it. Let's face it, New Era basically has a monopoly on the fitted game. And there are so many different people with different tastes out there, and there are a multitude of companies who cater to those tastes. Now what is New Era supposed to do when someone wants to make a fitted hat? The financial benefit is too great for each side to say no.
I don't even think of it as New Era collabing with companies. You used Nike collabo sneakers as an example. Thats completely different. Say you're buying the Supreme X Nike trainers, you are buying a pair of Nike shoes that just so happened to be designed by Supreme. Now on the other hand, say you are buying a Mishka fitted...It's a Mishka fitted that just so happens to be a New Era.
Of course there's going to be plenty of new releases that don't appeal to you, but that shouldn't stop you from copping the ones that do. I don't think theres any way a company like New Era can maintain any sort of exclusivity that soo many streetwear elitists bitch about...I'm not sayin that you're one of those people, but I'm sure u know what I mean.
