How Did You Get Into Streetwear?

just wondering how everyone here discovered or became involved in the streetwear scene.

as for myself, I honestly don't even know. I think one day i just happened to stumble across DG while browsing the net & began getting interested in the individual brands & what not. of course this was waaayyy before DG sorta blew up. but i do credit that site with somewhat getting me involved in the scene.

I used to check for a lot of bape shit, but couldn't afford it. I don't know, I just started seeing shoes that where hot on this site, then the clothes started looking good too.

I hate bape now too btw.

For me, I was somewhere in the heart of bolivia, around a city with a foreign name that seems to have slipped my name at the moment, when I saw a small fire burning down a dimly lit alley, Suspiciously I decided to check it out. I saw a group of people dressed differently from the natives of the area, they had come from america, and were holding an exclusive meeting about the future of streetwear. At first sighting of me, shots were fired, but when they heard me yell in their language, they settled. As I had been exposed to the streetwear outfits they had been wearing, it was either kill me or induct me into the society, I had just picked a dimesack and they didn't really have much to do, so I was welcomed pretty whole-heartedly.

I can't really recall the first time I learned about it, but I had seen something like bape a while back, and jus looked around on the net, and asked some friends who had been in it for minute, and so it began.

ive always bought and sold clothes on ebay. but before I was into streetwear, all id wear was Akademiks and Iceberg (LOL, remember them).

Anyways,about 2 years ago.. Im searching on ebay for a nike parody tee, and I found the Spoonfed "Nike Head" tee, then I did some more searching and found out about Mighty Healthy from there "Buddha Bitches and Beepers" tee, then I found out about Dave's Quality Meats store, and its all history from there...

^ haha true story but for me living in la all my life youre exposed to all kinds of fashion from rodeo drive shit to downtown bootleg shit..so streetwear was the lifestyle that suited me most at the time I got into it.

i believe around 99,00 is when i first started paying attn to it and when i got my first Supreme backpack, and shirts. dont really remember how exactly i got into it. it was during at ime when CATerpillar was making some real ill shit.

of course there was the foray into stussy and all that during elementary school.

got into it bout four years ago and so when i ran into some hundreds tees. and then i started copping Supreme Panel caps to get a diff look than other *****s in the hood. form there i kept on and four years later still no one in Bushwick knows a goddamnn thang about streetwear. My boys just bought the DS Hoodie and they think the know all about camping out and stupid shit like that.

and still.. hundreds clothes and supreme hats remain my fav brands

but my kickgame always been on point...

I went to middle school -> started skating ->grew way too much over the next 3 years (6'6, size 13) -> got sick of how damn big size 13 skate shoes were -> started diversifying into sneakers like dunks and cleaning up the way I dressed -> full-blown sneaker headedness -> I used to try to get to digital gravel in time to cop straw LRG hats way back when -> years pass... -> move to LA -> hundreds paisley hoods made me start copping tees like I have a problem.

Im far from an OG. I have been wearing Vans since birth though. My first dunks were pro bs in 2002. My first Air Force 1s were all white mids in january 2003, Im not from an urban city so it wasnt really an organic thing. My first Jordans were the French Blue XIIs and I havent bought any since (I dont play ball). The first time I went to supreme was maybe december 2003. The first time I went to Undefeated was 2004 (I didnt live in LA before college). I only bought my first higher fashion streetwear last spring (some neighborhood gear). I dont own anything Bape other than a catalog.

a few years ago i found a link to the giant peach website and saw so many cool designed shirts. I then started researching and found that soho (London) was a hot bed for streetwear.

I've always been into fashion and through skate clothes. Last year a friend told me about DG and I looked at it and saw some stuff I liked it but I really didnt know what these companies were about and I didnt want to wear it looking like a poser.

Then I found Hypebeast trying to look for that Stussy Raglan hoodie and thats how i ended up here. Im a newb compared to most of you.

Still couldnt get that Stussy hoodie. I remember coming here and thinking.."These people like some ugly shit" like the Crack Hoodie by 10 deep. But I still see alot of stuff that I do like here.

Around 4-5 years ago skateboarding down Melrose with some friends and was browsin through stores and came across a few brands. My friends took me to Brooklyn Projects and some other Melrose spots then discovered other places in LA and so on.

from about 8th grade and throughout high school i was crazy about non-GR adidas, mostly from the Originals collection. of course my interest in shoes wasn't as strong as it is now, but I feel like those were some of my first steps.

as far as clothes go, I stumbled upon turntablelab and bought some shirts that I thought were funny/whatever, without knowing the "significance" of the brand, etc... and then some time later I came across niketalk and then hypebeast
