simply because stüssy established themselves many years ago as a unique brand. They practically started streetwear. They have nothing to prove.

I've only seen a few Stussy clothes at zumiez but the walls and shelves are overflowing with obey and diamond, I was at the mall last week zumiez even carries ice cream now

I'm not even that mad about the copying Supreme shit, I just tend to hate brands that make garbage quality clothes on the cheap and end up in Zumiez. And it bugs me when people can't tell the difference tbh.

True I bought a basic obey shirt out of Nordstroms last year .I didnt even know it was like a trendy brand at the time.But I wore it once and washed it and it got all stretched and the collar folds and shit like a cheap fruit of the looms white shirt do after you wear it alot. .After that I didnt buy any obey again.
...Thats why I personally dont like obey.Their shirts atleast

Shepard Fairey should be the definition of plagiarism. That's when it fell off for me, never wore it but respected the brand. Then like what some guys said in the last page, a lot of people wear it just to fit in.

Can't remember what topic I read this at, but someone had an article which proved that Fairey created his pastiche from counter-culture images over the last 100 years but did not intend to maintain the original meaning of the pieces he borrowed from. Example: taking a picture of Big Brother from a film adaptation of 1984 and putting it on a shirt without showing any context. Also, using a picture promoting national parks and manipulating it to "paint" a portrait of war-torn Iraq. With the second piece, he just stole someone else's art.

He'll never drop a piece like Bebenzien's "JFK" and "Censored" shirts because those go over the heads of his suburban youth audience, or cuz they're too raw to mass produce.

EDIT: Here is the essay critiquing Fairey's authenticity.
