It's still fairly popular in Japan. They were bought by I.T. which happens to be from Hong Kong. A lot of brands are focusing on expanding in mainland China right now, it's a huge market.

I like bape. I bought a hoodie and a tee when I visited two of their stores in Tokyo in May. There was a good amount of people shopping in the stores too.
