Not really, it seems like every start up brand is using the same dude on photoshop and printing on the same blank. That's what motivated me to try and actually do it right. http://forthturn.com/. Relabeled with woven labels, hang tag and sticker included, durable screen print on 100% ringspun cotton tee, original artwork....
Releasing two more tees soon and check out the facebook page for a peak at the snapbacks.

I cant think of very many. Anyone want to share some legit up and coming or little known labels? I see sooo many upstart t shirt brands that suck. Im looking for some that are getting some attention and doing something special.

this is kinda tough since everyone has such dif taste.....besides...im not sure if any of the established brands are doing anything special either.

that's what's wrong with the game now, too many people trying to do it and not enough people just being legitimate fans of shit they fuck with. nigga ain't ask you what shit you comin out with, he asked you what shit you think is dope and ain't been around too long.

and keep on topic, whoever said the thing about the 3-4 years till the next boom. that's pretty accurate, next brands that will be really dope will be hybrids of all the good stuff of the 2005-2008/9 era of Streetwear and the good stuff of this new craze now.

haha you just listed what every clothing brand should have. just because you cover the standards of having a clothing brand doesn't make you legit.

your logo, designs, and website tell me nothing about your brand. i have no idea what your brand is about. the designs are poorly done (should've hired a designer).

shouldve put mork work into the actual shirt.

So yeah, this thread seems to have been derailed by people trying to push their poorly executed start-up brands, and I think it would be great if we could get back to the original intent of talking about legitimate up-and-coming brands (that is the title, after all). Several of you have just posted links to a brand that you're involved with in some way, and I'm sorry but most of the designs are terrible. Coming up with some unoriginal content to screen-print onto a graphic tee does NOT qualify as a brand. I'm not saying you need to be making selvedge denim or anything, but at least try to branch out a little if you want someone to take you seriously.

I haven't had time to look at all the brands posted here yet, especially since some of you guys just post a name or a link without saying anything about the brand at all. The only one I've gathered as a legitimate brand to watch is Raised By Wolves, in addition to my own recommendation of Declaration Clothing, if you'd like to go back and check that post out (which I'm not affiliated with any way, I'm just vouching for a good product).

So, having gotten that out of the way, does anyone else have any good recommendations for up-and-coming brands? I've heard good things about Mik Cire, but they seem to have fallen off of the radar...

everything is just sort of out of place to me. i don't think any of the products are cohesive with each other, none of the designs have a real concept, logo is lacking, name is a tad retarded. everything is super forgettable, and looks like not much work was put into it.

you should have put thought into the meaning of your designs, name, and branding. did you really want to base a brand off of a words synonym meaning "rad, dope".
i just don't get what the purpose of the brand is, or what its about. to me its nothing unique.

sorry if i'm being harsh btw

na it's all good. I think you read a little too much into "rad/dope" it's supposed to be funny. All the designs are based on films/film archetypes. If you read the product descriptions you would get this. Logo is kinda basic, but if you don't like then you don't like. I appreciate you giving your input.

You seem to have a bleak outlook on people's work before you begin to give critiques though. My brand description is pretty clear and concise and you are the first person to be confused by it. I have had much harsher reviews of the concept though, so I'm not too butt hurt. Just have an open mind and try not to be so self righteous. You come off as this almost all the time.

PS i have been following the "Starting a New clothing line" thread and agree with most of the shit you say on there. 99% of the shit on there is fucking terrible. Keep the vitriol strong in your heart my nigga

exactly why i dont get it.
i did read the titles, if the designs are based off of films/archetypes, why are there military hats? . and how does the name match up with the designs?

and oh, hah i get it now. i thought the actual words synonym was rad and dope.

My buddy is an ex-marine and tells me stories of Afghanistan all the time, so it inspired me to do some military hats. Not every design is based off of film, bro. It just provides me with inspiration. Camo is trending right now, so I found a personal connection to the trend. Do you hold other brands to such strict criteria when it comes to design? Most "legit" brands (that still make t-shirts) these days re-appropriate pop culture images in at least a few designs. I'm not tryna be some corny "themed" brand. I just drew inspiration from film for my first set of shirts. But I'm not tryna write essays back and forth and jack this thread. You are hard to please, so I will just make sure to not try to please you lol.

Be easy and good luck with Distant Light
