if your going to college throw some money towards books and food. but if you need to get clothes buy stuff you can wear with multiple things. i wear clarks, vans, and purcells because they go with everything. a good pair of denim and button ups is what i go with on the daily.

Same man.

I'm planning on buying a new laptop and using the rest of my money I earned for new shoes and shirts. I'm mostly copping hoodies and jackets though. It gets fairly cold around my area and I don't want to wear the same fleece for like three days straight. Definitely need more variety of jeans and chinos as well.

I'm also living in a dorm, but I'm going to a university in my state that is like 1 hour away. So what I'm doing is bringing a part of my collection for a month and switch off every now and then on the weekends. Same thing with clothes because... they're too valuable for me to bring all my shit at once. cool

If I were in your situation I would bring a couple.

In the way of shoes, Id buy a pair of all black and/or all/mostly white shoes like vans or something since they'll go with practically anything. If you like more hyped stuff/are willing to spend more on shoes you could check out some nike sb janoskis too, theyre good quality and comfortable.

For jeans id either buy levis or another generic brand if you want them cheap but still decent quality. A pair of A.P.Cs would be nice too if you're willing to spend more on jeans.

Tee shirts and accessories are whatever you want really depending on if you like brand name or just simple v-neck type stuff.

Btw im listing brands that are low-mid end since I figured that you'd want to save as much money as possible for college. But if you're all good with buying more expensive stuff, then supreme f/w.

EDIT: out of curiosity, what laptop are you buying?

i got you right now
ESSENTIALS (ranging from important to least aside from the obvious socks boxers wifebeaters)

White and Black Tees
(Make sure there 100% cotton and fit fucking amazing, you gonna wear them under sweaters/button ups n shit)
Blue Jeans (levis your best bet- if you have raw denim it would be better but more $$$$)
Black or White shoes (vans vans vans vans, look good clean- better when there fucked up)
Sweaters (Cardigans, zip-ups, and pullover hoodies, get colors grey, black)
Jacket (safe bet is to go with a varsity since it goes good with any sweater)

once you got those you can cop what ever shirt, khaki pants cargo etc etc

You think you're going to get a laptop and clothes for $500? I don't think so. I love how every college student thinks they need a laptop so they can look more like a college student. I guarantee you all you'll use it for is fucking off during class.

I don't think he mentioned buying a laptop? And for me, I made 4K over 8 weeks so I am surely getting a laptop. And the school recommended to carry notebooks? Jesus, it's obvious that you're going to fuck around with it but it actually is useful when it comes to schoolwork.. smh

Take it from experience, don't take your whole collection. People steal especially if you have a roommate you never know. Be mindful of that as pick which shoes....

and to OP, get a pair of raws, chinos, assorted tees, buttonups (Id recommend Rugby on your budget), simple toned shoes.

If you started earlier in the summer you'd catch alot of sales and prolly had sum $$$ leftover

A hoody and good pair of jeans (raw denim IMO: Nudie, Naked & Famous, etc.).

Pocket the rest or invest in a water boiler. Life saver for coffee in the morning and Ramen in the evening.
