Hey guys,

I am looking to do some designs for upcoming clothing brands. Whether or not you use them, I am an amateur graphic designer who is just looking to gain some experience with clothing designs. I'm sure I sound stupid posting this, but I have yet to form a portfolio yet, due to the low amount of designs I have created. Working with clothing has always been a large dream of mine, and I want to get started as soon as possible.

Thanks for your time,
Charles

Hey guys here from Honolulu, Hawaii,
Im coming up with a new brand called Luminary Minds,
To those who dont know what Luminary is its --> Luminary - Bright
gonna be based on conspiracies, mystery, and anything the mind has interest in.
because luminary is very close and almost the same definition as the Illuminati i
kind if tied it close, but i dont just wanna direct the brand to those kind of audiences...
i want to be all around like the streetwear brands we see today
Anyways I just created and LLC company so i can keep the name.
I still tweak on it, creating multiple copies but i wanna know what you think.
(Invalid img)

Everything has been thought out when doing this logo.
1. The two triangles you see are the letters L and M. look closely and you can see, you also can flip this in anyway and still see L and M
2. The star in the middle of the circle has 13 points, which of course our brand was created on 2013, on the 13 date of Oct.
The star also means being Luminary - Bright
3. Which from the above brings us why i made the wings, there are 10 wing pieces, symbolizing the month of Oct
4. The circle around everything is a rope which binds us and our minds together creating an infinite brightness
-the mind will never stop being luminary (bright)

comments, sugestions, anything.
thanks everybody

'Audere Est Facere' by Menno & Auke.

We are a young brand called ‘Audere Est Facere’ which is found by Menno and Auke from the Netherlands. The brand has originally started as an idea to express our creativity, which we could not fulfill at school. The designs we made received a lot of good reviews. Those reviews gave us the idea to create a brand to share all of our designs, which simultaneously led to our brand name.

The name ‘Audere Est Facere’ means in Latin ‘to dare is to do’. We named our brand Audere Est Facere (abbreviated A.E.F.), because in our opinion dare new stuff is equal to achieve success. Starting on your own or with a friend of you is never easy especially starting from the bottom to achieve success.

We want our designs to relate with who we are and who the people are who wear our garments. We love to have details in our garments, which you cannot directly see, but it is hard not to notice them. We are trying to produce the best garments we can, with all of our resources.

The fact that we want relate who we are leads to our first public design ‘The black jackle tee’ better known as the ‘Anubis tee’ which symbols the way we want life in the future. If you had success in your life it seems like your prophecy has been fulfilled and you can die without any regrets. Anubis is for us the notification you reached your full potential.

If you like what we are doing and our clothing, please don’t hesitate and contact us. For more information you could check our website AEFclothing.bigcartel.com and our social media profile at Instagram and Twitter @AEFclothing. When you would like to have personal contact you could mail us at AEFclothing@gmail.com.

As I am trying to get the ball rolling on my shit many questions have came up revolving around money and production. I am not trying to knock any brand on here but in all honestly how many of you guys actually turn a profit? And with that profit you get what do you do with it? Invest it all back into brand?

I work part-time at a deli and go to school the other half so my money flow isn't very big and the cost of production for something so basic as a Tee can get up there if you don't have a large order. Plus I have a bunch more other shit I am spending my money on. I am really thinking about selling weed to get some more cash to spend.

Really all I am asking is how do you guys go about spending your money to better your brand?

create a booklet of information for your brand including your lineups, goals, background info and most importantly calculate all your spending and profit margins and find an investor that might throw you couple grand or even hundred to get some designs up and going. Then the investor makes his money back and hopefully you get more of a consistent backing. I feel as if people generally in their early to mid 30's that make good money don't mind investing in something that can possibly be "cool and trendy" in the long run, keeps them relevant in a sense. Well thats what I have been doing don't know if its the best way to go about it but I will find out.

i been turning a profit since i started but i wont go into detail about everything...

With Ts its easy to turn profit for my first drop all my profit i made off ts i spent it all on hoodies and shit for winter since the price from ts to a hoodie is like x5 so its like a rinse and repeat and aslo try to make as much profit with spending as less as you can

I plan on starting a clothing brand in the future, but right now I am trying to get the financing right and getting a bigger network.  I was just wondering if you guys have any advice going in?
Oct 28, 2013 @ 19:28
apparently my previous logo was "TOO SIMPLE"
You motherfuckers be paying out the ass for this shit,

now I love supreme just as much as the next person, but some of you hypebeasts are honestly ridiculous.
Sorry for the rant, I just had to speak some truth to the avid subscribers of this thread.

most people buy supreme for their designs/quality products their logo hoodies/hats are just a staple in streetwear

why are you worrying about a logo? no one wants to buy logo shirts when they dont even know what your brand is about

Oct 28, 2013 @ 20:11
nah i would they made suede ones for like $80 a year or two ago and a lot of them sold.

their items sell because theyre higher quality, if they had their logo screen printed on a hanes hoodie they wouldnt sell for $160

jerseys tend to resell for more than their hoodies

Doing it alone is honestly your best option, it may take you longer to get up and running but it'll be worth it at the end. Usually people hop into making a brand with another person or 2 so that there is enough cash flow to get it started and keep it afloat. That's what we did. It has it's pros and cons. It's much easier to turn a profit if you're doing it solo. Just figure out how much it's going to cost you for your first run/line/collection w/e and give yourself a goal to obtain the funds in a certain time period. This business can be tricky, you can have the illest product out but if you aren't marketing it right you will be sitting on a bunch of stuff and feeling like it was a waste of money. I would stay away from having someone invest (no hate xDUNG) I just think if you do get up and running and lets say there are no sales and you lose interest (which seems like 80% of the start up brands do) then you'll owe someone else even more money, that shit's not cool. Do your research and don't rush into it. By rush, I mean coming out with 1 or 2 shirts. That's not going to get you very far right out the gate. If you look at the brands that have came out strong they had variety to choose from. A couple shirts, a long sleeve, hoodie, hat or beanie, you know options. By the way I work part time (35 hrs a week) and go to school as well so I know money can be tight especially when you have bills, girlfriend, other hobbies. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions, maybe I can help. Best of luck big dog.

I didn't really answer your question sorry, but if you're smart you keep putting money you get from sales back into your business to the point that you don't have to spend a dime of your own personal money on it. From there you decide if you can actually give yourself a check each week or bi weekly based off of how well your business is doing. This though, will take time. You may see $2,000 in your account and be like yes I can pay myself, but is it really worth it at that point? Why not try to get to $20,000 then pay yourself. It's really all up to you if you're doing it alone. Personally, I wouldn't start taking money from the business for myself until I knew for sure that this was going to be my full time career and I could make it that, meaning my brand went from a small brand to a larger more well known brand.

invest ? idk i might have worded something wrong but i didnt have nobody invest in my brand like you said i dont think that would be a good idea because uou will have to pay somebody else which would sort of make you a middle man??

and just like you said it is better to not rush.....dont start thinking like damn i need to put something out and just put out 1 thing just because....build up some shit you like and plan it out...it doesnt have to be the most thought out idea just make sure you have some idea to go off in your head...and just push push push...alot of people will ignore it and blow you off but if your consistent then you should get some traction ....and dont believe everything you see on the internet...dont think damn i have to be like them or them  just be you and push
