Is it safe to say that some of the big brands in streetwear have gotten lazy with there designs or is it just that they are simply trying to keep the money coming in..in order to get to that 20 year mark as a brand..

Thoughts?
I mean at this point, it's just about money because the hype surrounding those "godly" designs will keep selling not matter what. All the brands have to do is change the colors and boom, there's your new collection. Some of the brands could care less just because they'll be getting the exposure they want, but it sucks that their diehard fans will want to stop supporting.
Yeah I see plenty of that going around I understand the business side of it..but at what cost you dilute the design, thats hot and loose diehard fans in the process...

Most get that one godly design, and then promptly run it into the ground. HUF's Plantlife stuff, Crooks And Castles' Air Gun shit, SSUR's COMME des FUCKDOWN, Married To The Mob's Supreme Bitch, I could go on for 3 more paragraphs.

On the other hand, some brands have stopped themselves from doing this on a hot product before it got too diluted, like Supreme with their box logo shirt. Although they still put out box logo hoodies each year, so I don't know how much better that is.
Yea same here...i just get sick of seeing brands release the same design every season different color etc...rogue did it with there gunshow..and diluted it. There is always the possibility that they are probably using the money made to fund better items or better quality cut and sew...

Not feeling these. Looks like you just threw together some stuff that has nothing to do with your brand description. The logo could use some work. I suggest going back to the drawing board and really trying to come up with something that goes with what your brand description is. Hope this helps!

Blacktongue -- you been doing this for 6 years and this is all you have? You may want to think about finding another source of income. Also you may want to spend some money on spelling classes. I know my spelling isn't great, but man you just sound retarded.

"based in new york and established in 2007, the immediate vision was for theblacktongue was to create limited, rare pieces that will blur the lines of art, luxury, and street fashion. at its core theblacktongue makes pieces that resonate with the human experience and can strike a chord with anyone, no matter ones social or cultural title. we are making statements that others are too scared to make."

I have a brand that is still pretty new, the brand's name is "FUCK YOUR HUSTLE" and I KNOW that our tees are definitely not for everybody, and I already know that it limits who would even think about buying our products, but it's a risk I decided to take, and while it helps to instantly get peoples attention, it definitely hurts sales. So I've been focusing more on getting designs without the word FUCK on them, and I made a new url for our site which is http://ShopFYH.com

The brand has been a learning experience, and a fun side project of mine that also got me more into photography/video cause I didn't want to have to rely on anyone else to do all of that for me, and now I have the ability to get all the promo material I want a lot easier. That is something I'd highly suggest investing in, a nice camera and taking some time to learn. The brand has also helped me with a lot of great networking opportunities, so anyone that thinks it's a waste of time, I beg to differ and wouldn't have changed anything from my experience so far. I also have a few porn stars rocking our brand, and a lot of rappers, and youtubers, so we're not trying to be anything we're not, considering our brand name, and most of our tee designs so far.

Here's some pics from different shoots I've done, and to showcase some of our tees and what not. I'm not against any constructive criticism, just keep in mind what I already said about knowing the negatives of having the word FUCK in my brand name and on my tees!

the designs don't come close to matching to what you're talking about.... I expected to see something fun, free, but this isn't really doing much.
I agree I'm feeling conflicted as to where I should take my designs, what would you expect for a design or like to see?
What does this brand mean to you? You should figure what direction you want to go in so you have a better idea for designs.By "tearing it up" do you mean skating?
It means a lot more than just being with friends and yes skating too, I want to make this a brand in which someone can be inspired and motivated to go out and chase their dreams. A curb by definition is something that checks or restrains. On the
sides of streets we have curbs to restrain us from the road, prevent
cars from being on sidewalks and lawns, and regulates water and
transfers it to storm drains. It takes control of it's environment and
regulates everything it faces. That's \the message I want to get across. Take control of
everything around you, from unattainable wishes to small goals. Make it
happen, take control of who you are and what you become. That's what I want to make of The Curb. That's why I'm going to scrap all the designs and start from scratch but leave the logo the way it is. I feel like it illustrates the message by restraining the T in side the C.

I think it's sad that there are so many haters on this thread. The whole point of this thread is for people to share their new brands and to get feedback, whether it's positive or negative. If you're going to come on here to just bash other people's brands and not contribute anything else, then why even bother? I have seen a lot of cool and fresh stuff on this thread that I have liked and I've also seen a lot of stuff that hasn't been that great or original. I think the fact that so many people come on here just to bash and hate on other brands makes people reluctant to want to share their stuff. Let's try and be more helpful and give actual advice/feedback instead of just bashing and hating on everything. Just my two cents, sorry for the rant.

not really appealing as a name...that is not to say you cant spin it to be positive, its hard though, but the description of the brand itself has to be something really, really good. With a little more research why not try just making up a word, then you can really give it your own meaning.

Think about it like this, someone see you wearing a tee with deadbeat on it, and from the jump they have there own idea of what this brand could possible be about, and in this case its not good. The flip-side of this is if you use a word that is made up or doesn't really exist, it promote intrigues and they want to know what that is your wearing, and it gives you more freedom to define the brand....hope this helps.
