God damn i hate drop crotch pants so much haha.

Just some advice tho. When you do a product shot, the customer should never be confused as to what you make and dont make. Aka the "hi" shirt and LA hat. The hat doesnt matter much but the focus of the picture is deffinatly that tank top. Next time id suggest using a plant tank top so people know they should be checking out the pants..

Mar 16, 2012 @ 07:12
i agree, when i was looking at the pic i was more focused on the hi shirt than the skinny sweats, sweats are prettty cool, but defiantly agree, focus more on the product you are selling.
Mar 16, 2012 @ 07:18
Thanks for the advices guys! Will definitely keep them in mind for our future shoots..blushing

Our new release is finally up available online! Check it~ gg.

maybe I'm just being picky or maybe it's my photographers eye but the pictures don't look that crisp at all either.

Looks like it was edited and saved in .png or paint

what's with the random poses? they don't seem to communicate well even if they're trying to do dance poses.

all i see is a guy happily checking out his shoulder, a girl doing a fusion of ninja and dancing, and i don't even know what the fuck the tank guy is doing to have that kind of face.

Hello everyone just wanted to introduce myself and say I have learned a lot from this board concerning the "what to do and what the fuck not to" when it comes to starting a clothing brand.

My name's Joey and I'm currently working on putting designs together and getting all my equipment setup.
I'm posting from my phone so I got no pics to show anything regarding my "artistic" stuff, but I can say I'm a big fan of Jean-Michel Basquiat and his neo-expresionism work.

I'll post some pics of my work tonight and I hope to continue learning from all here. One thing I do want to say is that whatever I do will be limited prorduction with an insane amount of personalization in regards to packaging and buyer connection.

Thanks for having such a great forum

Looks like something u did to kill time.
Plus the "feline" brand sounds like something a stripper chic would wear when not at the job.

Why would you release one shirt? If your going to do it release three or four? And why is it so boring? Looks like you went on Microsoft word picked times new roman put it on a shirt and said I'm a company?

Not to be a big dick but your brand doesn't stick out at all in my opinion

EDIT: it's good you have tags and somewhat cool promo pick. Keep that up

I'm sort of confused.
Is Novus Imp. Co now WEAREOUTHERE?

But anyway I can see what you are trying to do/accomplish . First shirts usually consisit of the company name and logo so people can recognize you. I would honestly do more then one shirt if that is the cae though. Making a website for one shirt doesn't give the buyer much to look for and they are going to be kind of let down when they visit the site cause they may have been expecting more. Do atleast 4 varations of the logo on shirts. Small qty prints. Black and white shirts @ first. And $15 would be a better price for a "up and coming" shirt company with only a 1 color design.

If you do at least 4 shirts, include some pictures (fun shots of friends walking around and what not) and some stickers to bomb on your web page that should be a decent start. Don't look to make to much money for the first go round.
You actually spend more money in the begining building and establishing yourself and handing out free stuff for advertising.

Here's the link for some of my personal stuff that will somehow relate to the brand I'm currently working on. The book itself is one I wrote and published back in 2010. I still got some copies left, so whatever I end up selling will definiltely bring those in the box.

I plan on painting the packaging boxes for anyone buying 2+ shirts at a time. I also plan on doing handmade tags, handmade packaging and will provide exclusivity due to the small amount of pieces I will be producing. Again, these are just some simple samples of stuff I have painted for some customers and I'm not sure if I want to bring that type of neo-expressionism artwork into the streetwear level - unless of course I get positive feedback on it.

for a bunch of 17 year olds printing from scratch yall did a not bad job. there's definitely more room for improvement and there's a lot of potential..i say keep it up.

i would suggest not using a big C for both "cat" and "crew"

In the beginning you are basically going to be recycling money.
The money you make will go into making more shirt and supplies and not into your pocket. Unless you took out a loan or something.
Get a job more importantly. Using this as a income at this age will only lead to stress and possibly a chance in not putting your heart into it and giving up.
Most of us aren't blessed to have rich parents like some of the start up brands (non that I have seen in here) where they just throw money into it and then go skate boarding afterwards and party.

yeah man i feel ya.
Growing up with a single mom and barely enough money for rent and being into streetwear wasn't easy.
Always wanted to start a line since i was in middle school. While I looked up to Jonas(LRG,r.i.p) and Nigo(bape), other kids round here had different taste. So i was that 'weird' kid into different things.
but yeah! been applying everywhere hope someone calls.Lol.

If that's your deal then take a few months work, come up with a solid brand name, designs, concepts, branding, the works. I started out shitty as fuck. Thought I was king shit. I'm still not even close but I took 8 months off, re branded and have a new line march 24 with what I feel is 100x better!
