as soon as you have an idea put that shit into play because 20 other people are thinking it and someone is about to do it.What do you guys do when you have a design ready to print, and then later you see a bigger known brand post a preview of the same concept? This shit happens way too fucking much for me. Prime example, I was looking at old helmet graffiti from the 70's(a family friend that served was showing me his, pretty cool shit) and went "You know what would be cool? An all over pattern shirt of this shit". I put in hours remaking the camouflage pattern they had back then, and was writing up some graffiti for it, trying to figure out what all I wanted(including shit like the BOMB 'EM peace sign and tour calendars or just drug references). I was so fucking hyped. I loved that shit. I felt like I finally had a really cool idea.
Looking up some more images of helmet graffiti for inspiration, I found this shit:
Erik Brunetti had the same idea as me, 3 years earlier. The thing is, I don't even really like Fuct. There was no way I saw this shit a while back and was just remembering it as my own idea.
Streetwear is the largest hivemind I've ever seen. We're all looking at similar places for inspiration, we're all coming to similar conclusions. Shit, I've had ideas that would be in my notebook for months, just to see a big brand(Supreme, if you were wondering) put out a product that was so close to mine, I couldn't put out mine without be accused of biting. The shit's crazy.
Edited for spelling and shit, because I'm a basic bitch.

I use a Canadian brand called Kings. Out of all blanks, these ones are the best fit. Slightly more solid material than your average.MINSCT 2013 Spring Collection Drops at 9PM PST tonight. Love it or hate it.What blank did you print those hoodies on? They look nice and beefy

My business partner and I have been working on our idea for many months now. We'veI like the idea. I am from Vancouver aswell and understand the coastal climate.
been working in the raw denim industry for about 2 years now as a denim
jeans retailer (Mostly Japanese and American brands) so we've had the
opportunity to work with some of the highest quality denim in the
market.
However, with every pair that we sell, there are things we personally think we can improve.
Our
idea is to create a new technical garment brand. We get much
inspiration from other technical garment brands like ISAORA, Stone Island, Acronym, Outlier, Arc'teryx Veilance, Nigel Cabourn and some high fashion designers like Boris Bidjan Saberi, Carol Christian Poell,
Damir Doma, etc.
Why technical garments?
1) We're from Vancouver - land of rain
2) We believe that the clothing you buy should make your standard of living better in SOME way. The garments you buy should contribute somehow, and having this "third dimension" would create so much more value to the piece in addition to it looking good.
With
our expertise lying in denim jeans, we've been researching technologies
to make the denim fabric water-resistant while still being able to
fade. We're aware of the Levi's Commuter but to be honest, it's not that
great. We got samples from the factory in South America that makes the
fabric for them and we didn't like them.
We're going to start with 3 fits: straight, tapered and curved-seam.
Hopefully if our company can grow, we can expand to other things like shirting, outerwear, luggage and accessories.
We've spoken with many, many, many denim mills and we think we've found the fabric we like:
We have a name and our website domain had just been purchased but I don't want to release it until it's ready :p
Not much to show yet, but I would love to hear some of the HB community's feedback.

My business partner and I have been working on our idea for many months now. We'veNot a big raw denim person(the whole 'making your own entirely unique pair' thing is cool, but the level of work you have to put in to not fuck up a pair is enormous in my opinion), but I'm excited to see what you have to offer.

Coolio.
I like the idea. I am from Vancouver aswell and understand the coastal climate. Thanks man.
We are wanting to increase the technicality of our garments to make them more seasonally functional. I think the hardest thing to do would be to maximize simple technicality while still maintaining a fair price point.
Good luck with your brand
Not a big raw denim person(the whole 'making your own entirely unique pair' thing is cool, but the level of work you have to put in to not fuck up a pair is enormous in my opinion), but I'm excited to see what you have to offer.Thanks. Yeah, we've realized that not everyone is into raw denim.
