Starting a New Line/Brand Feedback Thread

Mar 07, 2013 @ 00:26
Hey guys, i have started a menswear brand called Clifford Soft Goods. Right now it is exclusively premium mens underwear that i design and have manufactured here in Vancouver BC, Canada. This first line is a Bamboo cotton boxer brief. The approach is simple, clean formed lines and high quality materials. I wear only CSG and am loving every minute of it! Check it out on FB or the website.

Thanks!

Here's Nathan Graburn taking one for the team, cold, rainy West Vancouver.

Erik Jackson feat. Biggie the notorious P.U.G

There is some neat stuff in the works for later this year. We are going to be working with some new materials & artists.

Comfortable, lightweight & breathable, CSG holds you just right. Check it out and let me know what you think, we appreciate feedback.

Cheers!!

Thanks! I have a bunch of other fonts with this design. I just thought that font fit the space theme. I think I'm going to try something more blocky and bold!

Agreed. $32 for a simple tee with a little script design (especially for a new, upcoming brand) is just too much.

I finished this little design that im planning on putting on a couple of tees or Crewnecks possibly, i didn't want to do the usual Camo pattern so i tried Snakeskin, Feedback ?

Noah84 -- f you compare your items to others here you will see a resemblance. At the end of the day ascreen-printed tee/sweater/hoodie/blah blah is all the same, what differs is the connection your customers get to the brand.

Any brand out there printing tees is expending about the same - give or take $6 per tee - the reason why people pay upwards of $35 for a tee from some of the biggest brands is because of recognition. At the end we all want to feel good when wearing a piece of clothing, now you need to make the customer realize that buying your shit will set them apart/higher than others.
Great advice. I'm working on that as we speak. I mean the stuff im making is pretty high quality and my prices are giving me a profit margin thats not too high but your right. Also with that shoot, that's not how we actually dress we just wanted to do some kind of unpractical lookbook thing which I guess is a bad idea.

love the socks. I would buy a pair right now if the log were running vertically down the sock where you can see it and not on the foot out of view.

Some basics on pricing. Someone mentioned $6 is the average price people pay for tees. This isn't necessarily true but it should be your goal to get as close to six as possible if you don't want to be an online only brand forever. Our near term goal is to get a finished tee down to $6.40.

Online >>> only 2 x Cost = Lowest price or 2 x $6.40 =  $12.80 per tee

Wholesale price is the same as your online price (or higher) but basically shouldn't be below $12.80 (in this example).

Online (with pricing power)/ consignment deal/ retail deal >>> 4 x Cost = lowest consignment and/ or retail price or
4 x $6.50 = $25.60 per tee

So lowest price is 2 x Cost but the closer to 4 x Cost is the goal.

WTF?

price should be consistent to the market on all fronts. if tees go for $25-$35 then that should be your retail price on your site.

wholesale price should also be consistent to the market....if tees normally wholesale for $12-15, then so should yours.

you do not want to under-sell your potential dealers!
and you do not want to devalue your product in the market.

I do not know what you are saying. Retailers will NOT buy your clothes if they do not have at least a 40% markup. They have to have a profit. We make shirts like regular shirts for 8.00 because we hand make them and use a special cloth that is softer and expensive. We sell shirts for 40.00 thats a $32 profit online, but retailers need money to actually run their store so they will buy it at a 40% discount (if they buy more than 75). It is a deep discount but you are making more money quickly and also you have your product in stores which they will always stock up every season which is very beneficial because most people won't buy online because of etc etc. You have to have a contract which states what they can sell your product for and wether or not you can have a discount or sale on your products. You should be selling your products for ATLEAST a 40% cut of your MSRP and only when they buy a certain amount.
