I've been meaning to look at the other angle of @mincst's whole "posting mockups takes away the element of surprise, which is essential in the game" thing, since I've been feeling like I kinda gave other people starting out a crutch to justify their use of templates with.

I'm not really good with words, so let's just go in:

In my opinion, you should never fully rely on templates. I use them because I have no circle of people who I can trust to give honest advice. Downside of where I live, not many people are interested in the whole game. @Mincst appears to have a good circle he can preview pieces to, so he shouldn't be posting mockups to the mass public. in order to preserve the surprise factor. I really don't like to, either, which is why I've been trying to fix the situation.

The whole point being, you shouldn't rely on them. These should only be used as preview material inside your circle of friends and family who aren't going to BS you on a design. If you haven't got anybody like that, find some.

Hope I made sense with all this. Like I said, I'm not good putting ideas down on paper or keyboard/monitor.
Haha I forgot I even posted about that. Maybe I should have put less chronic in that Aunt Jamima pancake mix...

But I get where your coming from dude. Not everyone has other people that they can rely on for 'real' design advice. That being said, this is how I look at it:

Think of your favorite brands, whomever they may be - I'm talking about those brands that really influenced you to start your own brand. Do you think that they ever posted mockup templates online for the world to see? Do you think they ever asked you if you thought their designs suck? I sure as hell know that my influences didn't. Those influential brands gain my respect because they consistently put out great pieces and keep me at the edge of my seat EVERY release. And you know what? Not everyone loves their shit - but  THEY love their shit. Thats what matters.

My philosophy is, if your not confident with your design aesthetic, don't start a brand. Wait and develop your skills and confidence, then start a brand.

Thanks for the knowledge my dude.

On a sidenote, just checked your site out again(I'm bored), reminds me of an old guy I met who did peyote heavy and lived out in the woods. Just thought I'd share that.

That monk sack nice, but fuck, you killing me on these prices man.

I think I'm gonna sit back a little and wait for some video reviews or something.

Speaking of which, have you considered giving a discount to reviewers(Youtube, major blogs, etc) who want to review your product? I'm not one, I'm just wondering if you'd considered it. This seems to be the type of stuff you'd have to see in person or get a good amount of people's opinions on it before buying. Photos just don't do it justice.
I wish I could make them cheaper but I can't bro haha. The fabric took 5 weeks to hand dye alone...then the product is hand made, and also less than 40 pieces of each (which makes production cost really high). If i was making thousands of these the price might go down a bit but I'm not trying to flood the market homie!

I haven't really thought about video reviews etc but anything could happen in the future. We just launched last night so I'm going to give it some time and see how it goes. Will post product shots here soon.

nah, i get it, quality costs, plain and simple.

Honestly, this is on some shit I'd expect Yeezy to rock. It's just so up there in price range and quality.
You might want to advertise on some forums like SuperFuture where they're more willing to drop that much on a backpack.

With the ever growing popularity of clothing brands starting up, I

bet most of you young guns are learning that screen printing can get

expensive! Let alone the additional services your product needs to

achieve that quality and retail ready standard. We have plenty of

experience dealing with all types of shirt brands, small and large and

would like to offer a limited package for you to take advantage of!

For most start up companies this would be ideal! Even more

established clients can use this to their advantage while we are able to

adjust the matrix a little bit to accommodate your line needs!

Here is the package details:

4 Shirt designs /24 Units per design(based on the popular AllStyle 1301 or comparable)

w/ 1 Color/1 Location (any additional colors or locations add 1.50 per color/location/garment)Relabeled tags (Your own size tags will be printed on the inside of the shirt)Fold and Polybagged. Your choice of either a clear decal of your brand logo on all bags or a 1000 custom 3" x 2" stickers

That's over $800 in savings! Think of all the things you can do with

that extra cash! Feel free to hit us up to discuss your project needs,

like mentioned earlier if your line has more than 4 designs, we can

accommodate.

Shoot us an email today to discuss your next project!  cjsprintshoppe@gmail.com

I actually made it a point to shoot in sunlight. Natural light looks great to me (excuse to spend time in the park too!). I can promise the green is not quite nearly so bright.

*Big ups to HB for the constant support. I've been on here since 2006 and have learned and taken so many things from these forums and applied it to my brand. These forums are full of trolls now, but there are still a few legit threads like this one where people can communicate, learn, and apply to their real life and I think that's a very valuable tool still unknown to many people. I've also met a shit ton of amazing people through here as well. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask, thanks again HB!*

Hey what's up guys, I need some feedback/criticism on this, it's not done but I'm playing around with the concept.
Hand drawn and did some touch ups in ILL/PS, hoping to drop this in the summer sometime.

Thanks.

pretty solid design. Personally I wouldn't even post that publically until printed for risk of copy cats.
I have the same problem as you with cleaning up the lines on illustrator after you auto trace a deign.
If you are picky like me play with the connecting lines but if you not just add color.

You straight brah
