@rawtee I think its too minimal man almost to the point that it doesn't look completed (or even close). You have your brand name in the same text you do for your lookbook and shop which i think looks weird. i think the brand name should at least appear a little different and maybe put it centered at the top and then have the look book, info and shop accross the bottom with your social media links underneath that. i also think centering the logo (if that is in fact your logo) on the site would make it more visually appealing. the blog is definately seems to be the most well put together out of everything on your site. I feel as though your minimalist approach is too minimal and almost seems "half-assed". no hate here i'm just giving you my opinion. keep grinding G.

I'm new to the forum but not street wear. I am working day and night on launching my own brand FEND, and starting off with a line of snapback hats. They aren't 5 panel, but hoping to get some of those soon. Here's a sneak peek at 3 of them. What do yall think?

If you are serious about doing fashion that should be the first step. I have seen to many people get their logos copied or yet alone stolen by another company.

@happenclothing - I agree with @vega_box.. if you're serious, you need to go ahead and purchase all domains that can be used for that company name and also register it as a business. If you want to take a further step; get an LLC established, etc. The last and biggest, long drawn out process is trademarking. It takes a legal team and some work and time to get that to process but once you do; then you OWN it for sure.

I just want to be successful. Streetwear by FEND.

Word. I kind of wish I did when I first started, but I was under the impression that it's okay not to be registered or anything as long as your under the radar. Any more advice?

I see. Yeah, I've been looking into getting the LLC, just seems more of a safer option rather than putting it all on the line with a sole proprietorship.

Getting the LLC is quite easy, and is a much safer route than a sole proprietorship. Just in case anything happens like your business get's sued or you get in a car accident while doing business things, only your business is at fault and they can't go after your own assets. The only down side is you have to file annual taxes and re do your LLC every year. Also, once you are a registered entity it's best to probably go ahead and get a sales tax certificate so you don't have to pay taxes on your shirt blanks, screen printing, etc. But, this also means you have to charge sales tax which can kinda of be a bummer to customers and have to file quarterly taxes (which can be a real bitch if you don't do it in a timely manner). For example, we got our sales tax certificate a few quarters after we got the LLC and they tried to hit us with a $4,000 back tax charge but since we didn't have the certificate yet it was all good. As long as you stay up on your records and keep things organized and plan ahead you should be able to handle it. If you're just starting though I wouldn't rush into all of this unless you're 100% sure this is what you want to venture in and have done the research and will make this worth the work. Hope that helps.

Also, the certificate and validity of having the LLC can help get accounts like Alstyle, Flexfit, and bigger wholesale companies. Having the Federal Identification that comes with the LLC also allows you open a business bank account and make things official.

As for the designs, I wouldn't wear them, but I can think of some people who would(read: people who ride trends and shout ILLUMINATITITITITIITITITITIITIOMG THEY'RE THE REASON I WORK AT WENDY'S).

Not saying you should stop, and congrats for even coming this far into it all. I'm just saying it's not my thing.

I just got a IND crewneck. It fits pretty nice and snug, seems like you would size down 1 though like every IND product. It would be a nice light crewneck for spring

Yeah? I'm from Florida and ours is only $125 annually. That sucks though from the sound of it.

@happenclothing Do not spend any money on legal until you have something worth protecting (money wise) and also have the money to hire an attorney for a drawn out legal fight. Also, everything you design is automatically protected under IP (Intellectual Property Law).

Also, like others have said, you should set up the business correctly upfront (LLC, C Corp., S Corp.) because you might have to file all this back paperwork, taxes and filings for dates you've been in business. Whether you wait or not, keep good records.

Basically, I want to correct this statement from above...

Either they had nothing to protect ("fair use") or they couldn't afford a lawyer.
