Its hard to justify charging 50$ for a crew (lightweight fabric, too) when your brand is really unknown and carries no weight in the industry. I know we certainly couldn't charge that much and still sell, regardless of how fiscally appealing prices like that are for a company.

Agreed, a lot of retail has to do with perception, just to second the point above obviously don't price yourself out of the market but DO NOT undersell yourself!
your price should always be similar to the current market. If crews are going for $50, then price yours at $50
you think that you should cheapen you product or brand just because you are new?.......big misconception. Standard Price justification has nothing to do with " your weight in the industry" or "your brand being unknown"....now if you wuna charge more than standard...thats a different story.
