These are some designs I made for flauwekul
I have many more designs, but they are not ready to show yet.

Please, give me some feedback on this.

And I almost forgot, but does someone know a good way to start an exlcusive, expensive clothing label like BAPE or Neighborhood? Cause I think it's pretty hard to start a clothing brand with high prices for your products.

I think the three-eyed tiger is awesome and a great mascot.

You wanna be the next Bape? Build value in your consumers' mind, unless you start out with the most crack design and get lucky -- i.e. your shit goes viral, you're gonna have to position your brand to be seen as worth the money for some value you deliver.

To me, it feels like clothing is the same as anything else that humans desire/need. Scarcity and added value are the two things that seem to work.

1 - For example, here in the UK everyone was complaining about petrol prices, the government announces that there is a petrol shortage..what happens? People camp outside petrol stations in ques to get some. (there was no shortage).

2 - Abercrombie and Fitch , pretty much blatantly say (don't bother wearing our clothes unless you are a certain type of person) They even have a fucking bouncer and velvet rope at the London store..what happens? Everyone goes blonde and tries to look like an extra from the OC so they don't get turned away from the 300m line outside Abercrombie and fitch.

even in life, like, everyone wants the girl they cant get, everyone wants to "discover" a new artist that no one knew about.

3 - You HAVE to have a good product, attention to detail otherwise everything else will mean zero.

google "added value" or "Perceived quality"....also read about Johnny cupcake (not feeling the clothes or the style but he understood this formula and is running all the way to the bank with it)

Here is my brand.

Uptown Alliance is a clothing company founded in 2011 in Philadelphia. Its main goal is to bring dope designs that inspire the public to follow their passions and create their own destiny. Uptown Alliance started out as a senior project in High School and developed into a clothing line the summer after my senior year. The motto of the line is "Passion Takes You Higher", which comes from the idea that you can only give your all if you love what you do. So the motto stands for doing what you're passionate about and using that to reach your aspirations. Also another idea that the line stands for is take a step everyday towards what you want because you can build your dreams one day at a time.

Please check out the Fall 2011 photoshoot on the blog as well as the online store and the Facebook page.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

good start, but the bigcartel page annoys me. it's set up sort of a like a tumblr, and it looks disorganized.
one other thing that sort of bugs me is the for the product shots, you used the lookbook. imo it looks better when all product shots are coherent to eachother, and the lookbook is showed seperately.
you might want to invest into building a more structured website. if i were to go on your website, i would think it's a blog, not a clothing brand. building a website with more tabs and content gives the consumer more of a reason to stay on your website and helps with seo.
otherwise, good start, and good luck.

try not to use clothing that isn't your's in your lookbooks it kind of defeats the purpose, especially if you're trying to sell a tee and the models are wearing their jackets over it, I know it may have been cold since I'm assuming you guys shot it in Philly but a couple minutes of toughing out the cold is worth it if the consumer gets a better view of the product.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely take that into consideration during my future photoshoots.

I was lucky enough to start a brand an run for like 2+ years..it was awesome and i learned a lot it definitely takes time and dedication to run a brand, its mostly business and knowing how to run your business, and as well having good design's and quality products, service etc...to many think its easy to hop in sell some tees and boom im popular and rich... doesn't work like that... I decided a while ago to stop my other brand and and start over working on something new and improved.

Hey Does anyone have their brand on twitter?!

I do and hate twitter to be honest.

You have to put useless info always be on. Tweet like every 30 minutes and use countless #words in order to gain followers.

I have yet to figure out the formula to being successful on twitter lol.

I dont really get twitter either but a bit about marketing etc,i think a bg part of it is having good quality followers rather than 100,000 followers who dont give a shit about your company/vision. I think also,be aware of over-tweeting,too much activity can make your content feel like white noise to your audience.

twitter is essential to a business. it's an easy way to connect with potential costumers and costumers. it's also a great way to network. you don't need to put useless information at all. tweet like a human being, talk about your brand, and your targets interests, nothing hard.

i have Twitter Marketing for dummies, and it's a great resource to market your way through twitter.

No point in focusing on trying to be successful on twitter. Build your brand outside of the internet and you'll see a huge difference. Also no need to tweet every 30 minutes, just engage with your 'real' followers and offer updates on your brand. No matter how much you hate it, people will look for updates on your twitter/facebook before they even think about checking your site.

No contradiction, you might be misreading it. My point was you can be on twitter/facebook, but dont try to be successful by focusing on just being on there all day...leaves less time for ACTUAL work. Focus more on your products so you have something to present to people online and offline. People are following you because they want to know about your brand and they want to engage with you, not see you tweet random nonsense every 30 minutes. Quality > Quantity.

Didn't even read of all this but I run our brands Twitter account and I hate it, I don't try to gain followers or anything just post some tweets that are actually relevant to what we are doing that day. Can't stand when people tweet every 30 seconds, pretty damn annoying.
