How would you recommend sizing on those and how do they fit overall (normal, slim, baggy, etc.)?

I didnt get the shipment yet. Im 5'11" 155 and my waist is typically 32-34. I got these in a 32. I think shorts tend to fluctuate though because I have some Abercrombie cargos in a 32 and, I have tons of space in them. But, If I get some pants in a 32, they fit perfect so. I would say get your typical size. But, I got the 11" so, the length will balance out my waist. If I were to get 9', I wouldve gotten a 33 or 34 because they're already short so, the cut would be different.

Oh and, the site said they're cut american style so, they would be a bit bigger than your typical European or Japanese cuts so, I guess that means true to size. Hope this helps.
