To be honest the "leather" on that jacket looks like it's very poor quality aka vegan friendly.

I bought a leather jacket from a army surplus store and it was about $300 this was back in 2004 and to this day the condition of the leather is in amazing condition granted I cut the sleeves off of it, painted it, and covered it it studs.....I use to be a punk rocker. Any how during the winter it keeps you beyond warm as for the leather falling apart I'm not sure on that my leather has gone through hell and back and is still pretty much in tack.

polyurethane is plastic - obey rapture is shit. sorry to lay it on u that hard, the good news is!

Your mom: they will keep you warm - true, if u get a real heavy leather jacket it will keep u super warm. It has the weight and thickness (nohomo) to keep you warm.

Your dad: it will crack and rip - leather is the skin of a cow, like human skin that is cut off or taken off of its source it is not being nourished and will shrivel up and crack. BUT at leather stores you can purchase oils and things to moisturize your leather and take care of it.

All in all - get a damn leather jacket and you'll be cool and get all the hoes!

Dont get "faux leather", its vinyl or some shit like that.
You can get a quality leather jacket for a good price on ebay, especially in the summer. I got a brand new Sean John one for $150 (retail is like $400).
To not get it messed up: dont wear it in the rain or snow, treat with a water/stain protector and conditioner (this prevents drying), dont use oil or wax I heard they clog the pores of the leather so it cant "breathe" and will have bad reaction to cold weather, dont store in a plastic garment bag
