Is it an indoor or outdoor wedding? Probably indoor considering the time of year. For the fall try some different textures, wool or tweed is very hot right now. Also good colors would be grays, browns, navy is always nice as well as oranges if you want to try something different. I'd personally wear a blazer maybe something like the left or even the middle:

I wouldn't recommend wearing chucks even if they are all black patent leather, a nice pair of dress shoes or even a pair of clarks or some penny loafers would be a good choice.
