And i'm looking to buy a suit or some shit, but im budgeted like crazy so yeah i dont know what to wear. I was thinking a white button down, skinny black tie, dark gray cardi, a L dkny blazer with the flaps lifted up to make it look like a coat, brown slacks <- not sure bout this one, maybe i should go with brown or black, and some dress shoes <- need to find these cheap as well.

Yeah if anyone has any suggestions on what to wear or where to buy em lmk. I live in NY btw so soho is prolly the way to go for me.

Hit up some smaller mom&pop tailor/suit shops. They're real helpful and can probably put together an entire suit for you for pretty cheap. Everything sans shoes.

this thread comes up all the time but anyway here is a few questions for you: First whats your budget? This will help alot... What type of wedding is it? Is it your church traditional wedding? is it a casual wedding? Or at a really nice place not to tradtional but not to casual? This help before u walk into a wedding wearing the wrong thing...

aight budget is prolly around 200-250 thats pushing it.
and the wedding i'm guessing is going to be in between casual and formal, my pastor is getitng married hes only 32 and he's mad chill and shit but his parents and all that are coming as well so yea. But i'm not bout to go in there with casual shit on, need to dress to impress.

^ alright 250 isnt bad, u can go to H&M... They have light weight cotton pants and jackets at a great price and its a summer time wedding! So my suggestion is this since u wanna dress to impress and have some style.. If its a daytime wedding go with a lighter grey pants and jacket, white button up, a tie with a more blue color tie or other color that goes well, black dress shoes! Not to formal but not casual right in the middle.. If its a night time wedding, u have to either go black or navy blue, white shirt with a color tie, black dress shoes! I suggest these because its a summertime wedding, u said cardigan but that would be good for winter time! hope this helped and gave u a good suggestion

good stuff i guess. So your suggesting i buy seperate pieces for my suit instead of a whole suit piece. I was thinking bout this as well and i guess its a bit cheaper.

^ yeah but in the store they will have the jacket and pants in the same section since they will match in color.. Then just buy the white dress shirt, a tie and black shoes(unless u have shoes).. I only suggested H&M cause u are a low bugdet and they have good quality and style for the price..

i got shoes, shirt, and all that. I am relaly just in need of a blazer as well as slacks. Thing is i don't really just want the ordinary suit many people will have that, you think theres anything that can put it over a lil bit.

probably not a ton of help, but I am in a similar situation this coming weekend. wedding is semi-formal, being held at the Music Hall in Cincinnati, OH.

So far I've gotten a pair of gray pinstripe pants and a matching vest. I think I'm going to just wear a white shirt and a black/gold tie (yet to be purchased) to semi-coordinate with the black dress/gold/white accents my lady is rocking.

I feel like a little bit of a jackass wearing a vest sans jacket, since this isn't a look I've ever tried out, but it is the summer after all.

it appears that matching vest/pants without the jacket is generally thought of as a half-assed look. I really think it would look ok, but I may get the jacket to complete the damn suit.

not really thinking bout a vest. If i was to wear a vest i think imma just buy a v-neck sweater or wear a cardi. Right now my main concern is the color of the tie, blazer, shoes, slacks.

Both of ya got to realize that these are summer time weddings.. U dont wear the same thing if it was fall/winter wedding.. Reason i stated light grey jacket and pants, brighter tie, black shoes... Also to the dude wanting to wear a vest answer to that is NO! Get rid of the vest and just go with the jacket.. Its semi formal, so u dont need a 3 piece suit. I mean u can but if its semi formal u will look like the odd man out! This is what im talking about (minus the tie):

Yo also check banana republic they have suits for under 250 as well.. Only thing that sucks when u are on a budget, is u cant get your shit tailored, unless u know someone who knows a tailor.. But navy/navy or light grey is good

if you dont wear suits regularly, you can basically go anywhere...

a lasting made to measure will stay in your closet for years if you dont get too fat or too small
try chinatown or yelp.com for reviews etc..a fully canvassed made by a reputable tailor known for their suitmaking can start at about $2000..

cheaper ones like H&M made, gap, etc...will last you well enough for this wedding and whatever special events you need it for
